Ink and Emboss with Asian Flower Stencil

Hi, friends, Chark here today to show off my new Ink and Emboss Holly Mini Cubes. I had no idea Hero Arts even did an ink/embossing powder combo. Well, they do and they all match. This set was intended to go with the holiday stamps. I used the red embossing powder with the Asian Flower stencil and Versamark ink instead…and oh my goodness! I love this embossing powder! It melts into shiny bright red goodness, perfect for the holidays and anything you want to glam up. I think it would be perfect for holly berries, candy canes and sleighs!

IMG_5043

It’s a little difficult to see because I stenciled and heat embossed on shiny gold paper, but the red looks just like a candy apple but I resisted the urge to lick it 🙂

I tried it on several papers and it looks just as yummy on white paper, vellum and gold. It dries a little too dark for some papers…the red doesn’t stay as red when there’s green under it, but I did use the clear Versamark ink and not the red ink it came with…it might possible make a difference.

I cut the glossy red embossed paper into ornament shapes and then adhered them to a photo Christmas tree paper. The happy is from a Hero Arts Happy Birthday set. I have the word Christmas stamped inside from another stamp set.

This one was fun to make and I’ll be using this embossing powder for more glossy red fun in the future.

Happy Friday!

Hero Arts Coloring Layering Hydrangea & For You Flowers

Hi friends! It’s my last post for a2z, I have sooo enjoyed designing with so many Hero Arts products alongside these amazing ladies; they are some of the kindest women you will find in this industry! I will miss them but they will never be far away!

Don’t forget to use my discount code in the a2z Etsy shop – and if something isn’t in stock, just request a custom order – no additional charge: MicheleG15!

I wanted to play with flowers, goodness – I just love colorful flowers! I hand painted (read that to mean, not so straight lines – HA) some thick lines with distress inks and Hero Arts ombre ink, then added some thin gold lines for my backgrounds.

The 2nd step of the hydrangeas and leaves were stamped with Oxide Ink, I added more colors with Copics and spritzed with water. Once dry, I die cut the pieces and layered everything up over some gold thread. Oh…and the graphic black and white paper was picked up at Hobby Lobby, adds a nice punch to the black sentiment! Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great weekend.

And don’t forget this month’s challenge – SHAPED CARDS – link ’em up HERE!

Forest Background in Color

Hi, crafty friends, it’s Chark here today to show you how I used the forest background stamp to create a CAS card, which is just what our May challenge is all about. Clean and Simple. bI inked it up with Versamark embossing ink, sprinkled on blue embossing powder and then heat set. Next, I sprinkled a bit of gold embossing powder before heat-setting. And finally, I used a cherry red powder and then heat set that.

I trimmed the panel down and attached it to a cream cardstock panel and then adhered it to gold cardstock. I added the Hero Arts lace at the bottom to add a little interest without taking away from the clean and simple look. I figure the inside can be a hello, sympathy or even happy birthday sentiment.

Gold Embossing on Hero Arts Layering Stamps

NOTICE: It looks like we’re having a bit of trouble with our InLinkz Link-up on our blog. It seems to have a mind of its own and disappeared from the side-bar. However, it found a home on the first day of March here. The DT are trying to put it back where it came from, but until you see it in the usual place on the top right side, you’ll be able to enter here.

Hi Friends! Kristina here with some more inspiration for our Embossing Challenge this month!!
I’m on a gold embossing kick! I love the look of gold embossing images water colored, and thought I’d mix it up a bit and use gold embossing on some color layering stamps!Hero Arts Color Layering For You Flowers
For the images I wanted a soft watercolor type look, without water coloring.
So I pulled out my distress inks, and gave each 2 spritzes of water before stamping.
It really softened the colors, be retained the look of a stamped image.

For the outline layer on each stamp, I used versamark ink and heat embossed with gold powder.
To finish I added a gold glitter strip under some vellum, which I gold embossed my sentiment onto.

Here’s a close up

New Beginnings: Graduation Part 1

In keeping with this months New Beginnings theme I’m celebrating graduation here on the blog today and tomorrow! Graduation season is upon us!
Lot’s of fresh new adults entering the ‘real world’ with no where to go but up!
So it’s no doubt we celebrate the occasion! And what better way than with gold & glitter!

Graduation Card Hero Arts

I went with a blue and gold color combination primarily because this was for a boy, but also just seems like a great graduation color (because it was my high school colors tee-hee) but you could easily replicate using gold + any other color!

I used one of my FAVORITE alpha stamps for this project The letters are the PERFECT size. I find a lot of alpha stamps to be too big for a project or to small to stamp properly. This one is just right!

Hero Arts Alpha Tabs Stamp & Cut

Buy me in the a2z store! 15% your $25+ Purchase Code: KRISTINA15

Here’s what I did for this card;

1. Start with a white a2 card base

2. Cut a dark colored base layer a step down smaller
I used a die but you could also trim a piece to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8

3. Cut a light colored layer a step down smaller. 4 x 5 1/4 and emboss
with your favorite embossing folder.

4. Stamp your greeting onto your dark colored cardstock and heat
emboss with coordinating embossing powder before cutting out.

5. Embellish with coordinating die cuts. I used this fun graduation
image from Cricut which I cut out and glittered generously.

I hope this inspires you to join us in this months new beginnings challenge for your chance at a $25 gift card to the store!

You can get this stamp set & tons more Hero Arts goodies in the a2z store AND you can get it for 15% off!! Use code KRISTINA15 at checkout. Want something, but don’t see it in the store?! Item out of stock?! No problem! Use the “Request Custom Order” or “Ask a Question” button.

One more thing before I go, did you know that we are on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook?. If you haven’t done so already, please follow us on these different social media outlets!! You don’t want to miss out on any fun promotions!!

See you tomorrow for more Graduation Celebration!

Follow Your Heart

I love making tags because you can create them with a lot of color and texture.

The Butterfly Die was a perfect addition to the front of my tag.  I cut that out in white and then inked the edges with Hero Arts Butter Bar Ink and then added a flower from my huge stash.

IMG_1135[1]

IMG_1137[1]

For the base I added Hero Arts Orange Soda Ink, Butter Bar and Bubble gum onto my silicon mat and then sprayed it with water and spreed the colors around.  I then placed the tag onto the colors and made sure that it covered the whole tag.  I dried it with my heat gun.

Then I used my favorite stencil, Hero Arts Leaf and Flourish and used Orange soda, Butter Bar, Bubble Gum Ink and a sponges to transfer that stencil pattern onto my tag.  I started at the top and worked my way down changing the colors so it was dark at the top and light at the bottom. I then used Wet Cement with the same stencil and just added some leaves to it.  I used some stamps from Hero Arts 19th Century French Script with the same ink pads to add some depth to the card.

I heat embossed the Follow Your Heart with Gold embossing powder to the bottom corner.  Then I added some “stitching” with a fine black pen.  Then I put it all together.
