Hero Arts Color Layering Nordic Tree

Have you played our final challenge – Holidays yet?  It could be any Holidays.

For me I am adding another card to my Christmas card stash.

https://fresh.inlinkz.com/js/widget/load.js?id=d1626941e732cbb79b50

To create the background of this card I used one of the tree image and stamped in Soft Grey, like so:

Then I layered the white heat embossed and glitter gold heat embossed trees.

And I topped the trees with red flower gem.

I hope I’ve inspired you to play along our final challenge.  Click here or the Current Monthly Challenge Button at the top to get more details.

Woodlands Tea Party with A2Z

Greetings friends and fellow crafters. LeeAnn here with my inspiration post for A2Z. For this post I used these adorable critters from the Hero Arts Woodland Tea Party set to create my card.

picsart_09-17-09.25.17

My paper is from BoBunny, and I stamped my images using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink, colored my images with Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Markers, and adhered all together using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever and some Foam Tape under the tree base. This little crew is now ready for their Tea Time, and since that is my favorite time of day, I think I am ready for some as well.

Hero Arts Tiger Lily For You

Arlene here.

I think I sponged Mustard Seed distress ink through the stencil on the entire background panel.  I had created this flower more than a year ago and knew I wanted to use it this month with my newly created lilies for this month.  I wanted a more CAS style card, but with the flower popping off the page.  I quite like the style which is entirely different from my other tiger lily cards this month.  My first card was posted on our A2Z September 1st post and the second card on the September 3rd post.

I think most stencils such as the Hero Arts Scrollwork stencil would work well with this flower.  It’s a simple design that can be repeated over and over again.

I used a similar design and background on the card below September 1, 2018.

Hero Arts Tiger Lily Appreciate What Is

I really like heat embossing the last layer on this tiger lily in white.  I know it’s not a natural look, but it’s quite riveting in real life.  The flower becomes the stunning focus on the card.  So happy to share this flower with you.  You can find me at A Bit of This and That.

Hero Arts Color Layering Stamping

Howdy, here I am again with a project for you that is home decor rather than a card. Sometimes you think what the heck am I going to make then you get rolling and dive in. I have really enjoyed the projects I have made for this months challenge. I made another thing for my craft room. It is not really craft related but sits in my craft room next to my computer. I am going to use the stand I made to hold my birthday lists. I like them right in front of me so I can quickly see the birthdays coming up.

So here we go.

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly

To start off my project I got this wood stand at Michaels craft store. I used Distress paint in a few different colors of brown to paint the wood.

For the butterflies I used the Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly stamp set and the Flutterbies Printable digital set. Both of these are available in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy shop. First I used my Misti to stamp the 3 layers of the larger monarch butterfly. For the 2 smaller butterflies I used the Flutterbies Printable kit to print the pdf with 6 butterflies on it. I just told the printer I was printing on a 4X6 piece of paper which in reality I used an 8 1/2 X 11 piece of Neenah paper. This makes all of the butterflies print smaller. I colored the 2 purple ones with Copic pens. I hand cut all of the butterflies but the Monarch Butterfly matching die is available in the a2z Etsy store. I glued these down over the branches. There are little strips of foam under part of the wings of the orange butterfly and under the purple butterfly on the right to give them some dimension.

Here comes the tricky part…. I decided I wanted to die cut the branches out of Tim Holtz plain tissue paper. You need to make it more stable to run it through a die cut machine. I put some 2 sided adhesive on the tissue and die cut 2 of the branches. The trickiest part is after you take off the backing paper you have a very delicate branch that you have to keep from sticking to itself and get it on to that wood without ripping it. The first one, all good. The second one I had to fight with it.

The clasp that holds the paper at the top is colored with Alcohol Ink.

Here is a look without the list.

Mini Note Pad Holder

Hello Crafty Friends – Annie here with a fun project.

You can make this in about an hour or less.

These mini note pad holders are perfect to add to a gift basket or just as is.Adobe_20190529_204825

So, Let’s begin the project. – I like to break it down into a few steps.

1. Stamp the images (which are layering bird, leaves, branch and flowers). Fussy cut them. Then, Stamp the sentiment on a banner shape. Set them aside while you work on the cover. Next, trim the 12″ x 12″ White heavyweight card stock into 3-1/2″ x 11-3/4″.  Save the remaining card stock for another project.
2. let’s score the cover for our note pad. Using a scoring board or a trimmer channel – using the bone folder – score at  5″ & 5-1/4″.  Then at 10-1/4″ & 10- 3/8″. Next, crease the score lines – using the bone folder.

3. Apply a bit of gesso to your cover. heat set or air dry (I heat set). Then, spray some Heidi Swapp Color Shine, Tim Holtz Distress Stain Spray. Heat set to dry.

4. Adhere the pad into the cover. Place adhesive of choice on the back of the note pad and the creased section of the cover. I added an extra piece cardstock to the inside of the cover as well as to the bottom closer.  Press firmly.

Next, push on the crease to the top of the note pad really sticks to the cover. I use the bone folder to press it. Plus it will give it a nice crisp look.

5. Now, Adhere the branch to the cover. Then, the larger flowers. Followed by the leaves and the smaller flowers which I added a bit of foam adhesive.

Next, adhere the bird to the branch having the back leg touching the branch. Then, add the sentiment onto a banner and adhere to the bottom flap.

6. Now, for the closer – I peel off one Velcro tab and center it onto the other – stacking them. The Velcro has strong adhesive this is why I only expose one side first – I then center the Velcro stack onto the lower tab – press in place – then remove the remain plastic backing and press the lower tab closed.

Finally, Add a few embellishments. I added a few sequins at the top left and by the sentiment. I added one to each of the flower centers.

Now, your Mini Notepad Holder is complete!
You can Modify this tutorial using a masculine design and colors.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today. I hope you found some inspiration!

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly Home Decor

Hello! I am here today with a home decor project I made for my craft room. Our monthly challenge is all about Anything But a Card so here we have it. I tell you I am happy to get nudged to make a fun project that is not a card. I used two Hero Arts sets for this which are Color Layering Monarch Butterfly and Flowers for Coloring. Both are available for purchase in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. Use my discount code Karen15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly

I bought this little box at Michaels with a coupon. I got it to put my dies in after using them so they don’t get lost in the piles.

The first thing was get out the book pages and cut them to fit on each side of the box. I could not get my Mod Podge open so I used 3 in 1 glue which worked better than I thought.

Second stamp the color layering butterfly. This layering butterfly is pretty darn easy to line up. I did use my Misti but it was easier than some of them can be. Tip: I stamp the bottom (largest amount of color) first and then end with the detailed stamp. On the lighter one I used 2 Avery Elle inks and Versafine Onyx Black ink. On the darker one I used 2 Oxide inks and the Versafine. I stamped these on some off white paper and hand cut them out. You can get the matching die in the Etsy shop also. Since you can’t really hand cut the antennae I just stamped the antennae on the book page where I was going to put the butterflies.

And now about the flowers and leaves. I used the Flowers for Coloring for that. I have enjoyed using this set and I think is one to check out. After stamping the flowers on the box I made a mask for each flower. I covered each one with the mask and then stamped the leaves. I colored all of them with colored pencils.

Then I glued the butterflies to the box. It is probably hard to see but I arched the top wings just a bit to give a tiny bit of dimension.

Then I inked around the edges with Oxide Distress ink and lightly here and there on the rest of the book page. I am very happy how it came out.

Here is a few more photos of each side.

Hero Arts Pink Poinsettia Greetings

Oh boy, just two more day before Christmas!  Are you ready for it?

I don’t think I am ever ‘ready’, I just enjoy and take it all in regardless.  Best policy don’t you think?  Alright enough small talk, let’s get to my card today.

I’ve stamped the Poinsettias all around the card edges and created a frame for my ‘Merry Merry Christmas’ sentiment.  Btw I combined stamps from two sets for it and it’s silver heat embossed.  Some of the tips of the leaves have silver embossing on it, it wasn’t my original design, but I like that it happened!  I also enhanced the some of the petals with a watercolor wash.  For the final touches I splattered some Glimmer Metallic Pewter Ink all over it.  To the center of the Poinsettia I added Gold Dust Stickles.  The panel is adhered to a Charcoal card base, and embellished with some Wine color sequins.

So Merry Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!!
