Hero Arts Haunted Digital Kit With Oxide Ink Blending

In keeping with our challenge theme I created a holiday card. Halloween is a fun holiday for me. I like decorating around the house and the front yard. My card is a combination of using digital images, ink blending and stamping.

Hero Arts Haunted Digital Kit

The first thing I did when creating my card was take the haunted house from the Hero Arts Haunted Digital kit and had my Cameo cut it out. I had to change the png image by using trace and then I resized it. It did take a while to cut because it has all this tiny holes in the house for a distressed look.

Then I did some ink blending with 1 Hero Arts Reactive Ink and 3 Oxide Distress Inks on the background. I sprayed the background a bit with a mini mister.

I used the pumpkin from the digital kit also. I resized it and duplicated it to make 3 pumpkins. I colored the stems with a brown Copic pen and the faces with yellow.  I hand cut them out. One of the pumpkins is raised with one of those really thick glue dots.

The sentiment I cut out with Hero Arts set Halloween Trimmings stamp and cut. I put some Versamark on the words and then sprinkled on some black embossing powder and heat embossed it. There are several different embossing powders in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store including a detail black and a sparkle black.

The witch is a cute little stamp from my stash.

The a2z Scrapbooking store has great sales going on! Run don’t walk and check it out!

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly Home Decor

Hello! I am here today with a home decor project I made for my craft room. Our monthly challenge is all about Anything But a Card so here we have it. I tell you I am happy to get nudged to make a fun project that is not a card. I used two Hero Arts sets for this which are Color Layering Monarch Butterfly and Flowers for Coloring. Both are available for purchase in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. Use my discount code Karen15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly

I bought this little box at Michaels with a coupon. I got it to put my dies in after using them so they don’t get lost in the piles.

The first thing was get out the book pages and cut them to fit on each side of the box. I could not get my Mod Podge open so I used 3 in 1 glue which worked better than I thought.

Second stamp the color layering butterfly. This layering butterfly is pretty darn easy to line up. I did use my Misti but it was easier than some of them can be. Tip: I stamp the bottom (largest amount of color) first and then end with the detailed stamp. On the lighter one I used 2 Avery Elle inks and Versafine Onyx Black ink. On the darker one I used 2 Oxide inks and the Versafine. I stamped these on some off white paper and hand cut them out. You can get the matching die in the Etsy shop also. Since you can’t really hand cut the antennae I just stamped the antennae on the book page where I was going to put the butterflies.

And now about the flowers and leaves. I used the Flowers for Coloring for that. I have enjoyed using this set and I think is one to check out. After stamping the flowers on the box I made a mask for each flower. I covered each one with the mask and then stamped the leaves. I colored all of them with colored pencils.

Then I glued the butterflies to the box. It is probably hard to see but I arched the top wings just a bit to give a tiny bit of dimension.

Then I inked around the edges with Oxide Distress ink and lightly here and there on the rest of the book page. I am very happy how it came out.

Here is a few more photos of each side.

Hero Arts Beach Adventure Digital Kit

Hero Arts Beach Adventure Digital Kit

Hello! I created a sun and sand card for you today. After all we are getting closer and closer to beach weather. The Beach Adventure Digital Kit caught my eye and I liked that there are so many images in the kit to choose from.  Hero Arts Beach Adventure Digital Kit

Lets start off with the background on my card. I blended Oxide Distress ink on an oval die cut. I then used a stamp at the bottom to stamp with Versamark and sprinkled on some Hero Arts sand embossing powder and heat embossed it. I was happy to finally use it.

Then I cut out an oval smaller than the background oval from a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 panel. I selected all of the fun images I wanted on the card. I sized them and printed them out. The umbrella prints with one set of the stripes and the starfish is colored in when printed. The rest of the images are black outlines. I colored all of the images with Copics. I added a bit of sparkle to the fish, the umbrella and the ball (which you can’t really see in the photo). I cut out all of the images.

The sun is from a stamp set and I also colored it in with Copics and hand cut it out.

The sentiment is stamped also.

Here is a look at all the different images in this kit. Fun!

Hero Arts Tag Die Cutting

Howdy! Welcome to a new year! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays. They can be hectic but very nice with all the  family gatherings, decorations and of course delicious food.

Hero Arts Tag Infinity Dies

When I thought about a card to make I decided it would be for my brother. You know those sometimes hard to make masculine cards. So here we are with a safari theme which I think can work for a male or female.

I used the Hero Arts Tag Infinity dies to cut out, guess what, a tag. Then out came the Oxide Distress Inks. I blended 2 purples and 1 blue ink on Bristol paper.

I cut out the sunset circle using a die from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero June 2017 set and also used Bristol paper and blended Oxide inks. You can get this die by itself from Hero Arts.

For the tree and animals I blended some Black Soot Oxide Distress ink on Neenah paper and then cut them out using the dies from the My Monthly Hero kit. In real life they look like a chalky black. Note: Instead of the animal dies you could use Hero Arts Color Layering Elephant stamp set in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store.  Hero Arts also has several sets that include lot’s of fun safari animals, trees, sentiments both dies and stamps.

For the background I stamped with Quick Quotes ink using the Hero Arts Mud Cloth Bold Prints stamp.

Hero Arts Feathered Friends Digital Kit

Hero Arts Feathered Friends Christmas

Howdy! It’s almost Fall and you know what that means, it’s just that much closer to Christmas. So today I went with a Christmas card using the oh so cute digital birds from the Hero Arts Feathered Friends Digital kit. The really nice thing about the digital images is that you can make them any size to fit your project. This kit has 5 birds, one set is outlines and the other set is colored in. It leans towards Christmas but you could just cut the little things they are carrying off like I did and use them for many different things.

Hero Arts Feathered Friends Digital Kit

The first thing I did to start my card was put 4 of the 5 bird images from the Feathered Friends kit into a Word document. Then I sized them to fit my card design. I printed them out on some off white Neenah paper. I colored them with Copics. I cut them out by hand.

For the background I stamped, on the same color of Neenah paper, using Hero Arts background stamp Wooden Floor Bold Prints. I used Antique Linen Oxide Distress ink. I used my Misti to keep things lined up nice.

The tree was stamped using Oxide Distress inks Vintage Photo and Lucky Clover on kraft paper. I cut out the tree by hand. I used to say I don’t really do fussy cutting but I don’t mind if it is not to “fussy”. The star was also stamped on kraft paper using Fossilized Amber ink. I colored over that with a gold Gelly Roll metallic pen and cut the star out a little smaller than it’s actual size. The star is popped up with foam tape. The star and tree are from Hero Arts stamp set Swirl Christmas. I added the red ornaments or lights on the tree using Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Back to those cute birds… I drew the legs on the background and then popped up the birds a little bit with a couple layers of Glue Dots.  Sometimes I want things just a little raised up and this did the trick.

The sentiment is also from Hero Arts set Swirl Christmas and is stamped with Oxide Distress ink in Fired Brick.

Reef Border Die

Hero Arts Reef Border Die

Howdy! How’s your summer going? I am here today with a tropical card. This is my first time using this fun Reef Border die. I have had my eye on it for quite some time. My thoughts went to rainbow fish when starting this card. Does anyone remember that book? I decided many fish in rainbow colors.

To start my card I put some Distress inks down on my craft mat and sprayed them with water. Then I took some watercolor paper and put that down on the watered down ink. I did a second round of that after my background was dry.

I stamped the octopus and the jelly fish using Oxide Distress inks. The octopus and jelly fish are from a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit. I used the dies from the kit to die cut them. I stamped the seahorse with a stamp from the Hero Arts set Color Layering Seahorse also using Oxide ink and die cut it with the matching die. The My Monthly Hero kit is no longer available but there is a Color Layering Octopus set in the a2z Scrapbooking store.

Next I used the Hero Arts Reef Border die to cut out the border. I went all around the die cut and colored the sea creatures using Copic pens. You could leave the center open and stamp a sentiment in there but I wanted a few sea creatures there. I also did not want a sentiment on the border so I will stamp that on the inside later.

Safari Huge Thanks Clear Stamp

Hero Arts Safari Birthday

Howdy it’s Karen with my first post as an a2z Scrapbooking design team member. This is also my first time being on a design team. I am excited to be part of the team and share some cards with you.

Safari Huge Thanks Clear Stamp

For the background of my card I did some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks in Wild Honey and Squeezed Lemonade.

The grass is stamped many times with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink. The grass stamp is from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero June 2017 set along with the safari animals. This set is no longer available but you can get the Safari Huge Thanks clear stamp set in the a2z Scrapbooking Store that has all the animals and the tree that are on my card. The animals, birds and tree are all stamped using Distress Oxide ink Gathered Twigs.

For the frames I used Hero Arts Nested Frame Cuts Ovals to cut them. The inner frame is just some brown paper. For the top frame I first stamped the sentiment on a piece of yellow paper using Hero Arts set It’s Your Day and heat embossed it with brown embossing powder. I had to go over that at the end with a black Copic marker to make it stand out a little more. Then I stamped with the Hero Arts background stamp Mud Cloth Bold Prints using Distress Oxide ink in Gathered Twigs. It needed a bit of fixing so I ink blended over it with Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade ink. I liked the look and went with it.

A Killer Birthday with Hero Arts

Happy Aloha Wednesday friends!  I hope everyone’s summer is off to an awesome start!  I’ve been waiting to use the Killer Messages set for a while now and so glad that we now have it in the store.

The sentiments are so fun and the images match them perfectly.  Inspired by our challenge going on this month I went with the monochrome look…

HAA2ZKillerBDay

I created a panel using Distress Oxide inks in Broken Glass and Salty Ocean.  Then I stamped the fins in Distress Oxide ink in Hickory Smoke and added a little detail to the fin with a white gel pen.  This panel was glued onto some matching cardstock with the sentiment stamped in Hero Hues India Ink Black.

I hope this inspires you to join us in this month’s challenge!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Under the Sea Birthday with Hero Arts

Happy Tuesday friends!  Have you seen the Hero Arts 2018 Spring Catalog?  I was so happy to see a lot of ocean themed stamps, stencils and dies!  Today I am using Hero Arts Reef Border die which is just gorgeous and perfect for a lot of occasions.  I love the details of the little seahorse, turtle, coral and even fish!  I needed a more masculine birthday card and came up with this.

I started with navy blue cardstock for my card panel and die cut the reef border die.

Reef Border Die with Hero Arts

I die cut a separate panel from white cardstock to ink up with Distress Oxide inks in Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Salty Ocean.  This panel was then adhered to the backside of the card front.

Reef Border Die with Hero Arts

I love the silhouette effect of the Reef Border die around the Distress Oxide inked up panel!  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Blessings Stamp and Cut (which is on sale) inked up in Hero Arts Mid-Tone Shadow ink in Navy .

Hero Arts Reef Border Die

Here’s the completed look!  I hope you enjoyed!  Have a great day and mahalo for stopping by!!
