Hero Arts Arum Lily Valentine

I am a little sad to say that this is my final post for a2z Scrapbooking for our Farewell challenge.  I had a wonderful time being part of the a2z Scrapbooking DT, this is first Design Team I’ve ever join so it had special meaning to me.  I have learnt and grew with this team, and I am going to miss it a lot.

For my project today, I choose to make a card for Valentine’s Day, yes I know it is still a little far away, but we could celebrate love anytime right?!

https://fresh.inlinkz.com/js/widget/load.js?id=d1626941e732cbb79b50

To create this card I stenciled some horizontal stripes on a white card base using Soft Grey Shadow Ink.

Then on multimedia paper I stamped and watercolor the Arum Lilies.  I used some references from the web for the colors.  After everything dried, I hand cut the blooms, leaves and stems; and made a bouquet.  And it is adhered to the card, and I added a white on black sentiment stripe.  And I added a little of Diamond Stickles to the center.  Voila, simple and pleasant.  🙂

There still plenty time to play our Final Challenge – Holidays (pick any holidays you like).  Click here or the Current Monthly Challenge Button at the top to get more details.

Microfine Glitter

Hero Arts Merry Christmas Cover Plate Die

Howdy! Today I have some sparkly and shiny fun for Christmas. I created two cards with the Hero Arts Merry Christmas Cover Plate Die.

Microfine Glitter

The first one here is all glittery. Glitter cards are hard to photograph and the light was kind of diminishing on me so the photo isn’t the best. Anyway… The first thing I did was stick a double sided adhesive sheet to a piece of Neenah paper. I placed my die on the paper so that the adhesive would end up on the top of the design. That way I could get that glitter to stick to it. I used microfine glitter and dumped that all over the design over a coffee filter. Then I burnished it using a bone folder handle. Thanks to Jennifer McGuire for that tip! Then I just glued that scene on to a piece of white glitter paper. It is pretty and very sparkly in real life.

This one was very straight forward and quick. I cut the scene out using the die and some shiny red paper I had in my stash. For this one I left some of the pieces in with the die cut. So the ornaments, 2 trees, and the star on the tree all have their center pieces remaining instead of pushing them out. I then glued the scene on a kraft card base. Pretty simple. There is so much to the cover plate you don’t need to do much.

The a2z Scrapbooking store has great sales going on! I took a peek at the store and there are still some stamps, ink, liquid watercolor (this stuff is fun to work with),  embossing powders and a few other things. Get them before they are gone.

There is still time to enter our last challenge! It’s always good to get a few cards done well before the holiday rush.

Christmas Mice

Hero Arts Happy Holidays Christmas Mice

I’d say these Christmas Mice were saying Happy Holidays to you.  I grabbed a piece of 6″ X 6″ paper and cut it down to fit on the A2 size card for a different look to a holiday card.  I had a “Happy Holidays” panel cut a bit short in my stash that I wanted to use, so this is how I arrived at the design.  Add two mice and a couple dots of Nuvo and we’re done.  This looks great in real life.

Be sure to join in the challenge and visit the store for some outrageous sales at A2Z Scrapbooking.

Hero Arts Color Layering Nordic Tree

Have you played our final challenge – Holidays yet?  It could be any Holidays.

For me I am adding another card to my Christmas card stash.

https://fresh.inlinkz.com/js/widget/load.js?id=d1626941e732cbb79b50

To create the background of this card I used one of the tree image and stamped in Soft Grey, like so:

Then I layered the white heat embossed and glitter gold heat embossed trees.

And I topped the trees with red flower gem.

I hope I’ve inspired you to play along our final challenge.  Click here or the Current Monthly Challenge Button at the top to get more details.

Hero Arts Christmas Mice All Through The House

We must thank Kristina for the wonderful farewell graphic for our last challenge.  Be sure to visit the shop for big discounts.

Again, I’m using non-traditional colors to make a Christmas card.  I couldn’t help it, the “mice” made me do it!  In this case, it was one mouse, but I’m holding her responsible.  I cut the sentiment in two.  I know, I lose small stuff too, but I had to do it.  I think this is a fun card and I still think it’s cute after letting it sit overnight on my desk.  I don’t know if anyone else has to step back and look with new eyes at their creations, but sometimes I do.  I wasn’t sure if the tree scene would work.

Be sure to enter our challenge.  Remember, it is our last challenge forever.

Hero Arts Santa Snacks Gingerbread Cookie Wreath

Hello there,

Cindy here to share a fun Christmas card!  We could string popcorn necklace to trim a tree and hang candy cane as ornaments.  So why not display a gingerbread cookie wreath?!  😀

I white heat embossed the gingerbread man mulitple times on a selection of brown card stocks and die cut.  Next I stamped the leaves in distress inks and die dut.   Then I arranged and glued the die cut pieces on a round die cut.  The sentiment is white heat embossed onto pink vellum.  The wreath is then glued onto a pattern paper panel and then onto a white card base.  To decorate the wreath I added a few holly leaves, and wine colored sequins.

I thought the gingerbread men were a little plain, so I used a gold gel pen and colored their buttons, mittens, and socks.  Here’s a closer look.

Now it’s your turn, create a project and play along our September Anything Goes challenge.  Scroll down to get the details.

Die Cutting with a Hero Arts Christmas Die

Howdy! I am dropping in today for Christmas in September. Is that a thing? I just got the Hero Arts Cut-Out Christmas die and I really wanted to use it.  So here we go.

Hero Arts Cut-Out Christmas Fancy Die

This Merry Christmas die is a fun one. As you can see you get a positive negative look. There are 3 different dies like this in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy shop. There is Merry Christmas, Tis The Season and Happy Holidays.

I had this shiny red paper in my stash and thought it would work well for this card. I positioned the die so that I had a portion of red below the sentiment.

For the background I stamped some snowflakes and heat embossed them using Hero Arts Sparkle embossing powder. It gives a nice little shine with some glittery sparkle. I need to give this a try with some colored pigment ink instead of the Versamark. I glued the red sentiment piece to the background.

The house and trees are from a Hero Arts stamp set called Home For The Holidays. I heat embossed the house and the bare tree in brown and the full tree with green powder. I colored the house and the full tree with Copics. I used the matching die set to cut them out.

April Fold Card With Sugartree Hug in a Mug

Arlene here and I have a little (not so little) plastic folder with images in different sizes so that I can use them in the future and they sometimes prompt my creative brain (not the one usually in use) to go with the flow.  This is exactly what happened here.  I cut out the cup and chose the color of cardstock, cut it and went on from there.  I thought I’d sweeten the cup with sugar and saw red yet again.  I searched my ribbon box and came up with that great red and green plaid and added the other ribbon to liven up the design.  I wasn’t sure about lining up the top tag, but went with it on a slight diagonal.  It is pretty awesome in real life.  Hoping this inspires you to get your fold on!

I am at A Bit of This and That if you’d like to visit.

April Has A Fold with Tree-Mendous Digital Kit and Gingerbread Houses

I don’t usually make fold cards, but I might start making more of them since I finally got the hang of how to line up the die with my paper and how to FOLD it.  I’m glad A2Z made me try.

I have to tell you it came out so much better than I imaged it.  How did that happen?  On with the show.

Close-up of my fold card

I think it was the monotone blue on this deep black background that made this so special.  I will be leaving this on my desk for awhile to remind me to try new things and be an inspiration.  You can see Arlene at A Bit of This and That.
