Hero Arts Monarch Butterfly Die with Alcohol Inks

Howdy crafty folks! How is your summer going? Mine was super busy but now it is nice and quiet. I am ok with that!

I had some fun with alcohol inks on the silver sparkle paper recently and for today’s card I used the silver foil cardstock. These are both made to work with alcohol ink.

Hero Arts Monarch Butterfly Die

For the first step I took the silver foil finish cardstock and dropped 2 different pearl alcohol ink colors on it. I also used a thing that blows air to move the ink around along with adding some drops of alcohol blending solution. I was really happy with the way the paper looked. I cut out the butterfly using the Hero Arts Monarch Butterfly die which is available in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. You could take out all the little pieces and have more of an outline butterfly but I was so happy with all the color I left them all in. I also die cut the sentiment from that same piece of paper.

For the background I used an embossing folder. I decided to use the debossed side of the paper for the background. I added some drops of the pearl alcohol ink onto the background panel. I attached this to the base of the card which is a dark purple and hard to see in the photo.

I then glued the butterfly and sentiment to the card.

Hero Arts Reef Border Die Cutting

Howdy! Here I am with a sparkle and shine project. It’s a new month and time is flying. With a new month comes a new challenge and for July it is Sparkle and Shine.

Hero Arts Reef Border Fancy Frame Die

For the background of my card it’s about shimmer. I put some alcohol ink on Silver Sparkle Yupo paper. Let me just say it is a great look.

I then used just the center part of the Hero Arts Reef Border die to cut the fun window out of the Neenah white paper.

For the turtle and seahorse I stamped those and die cut them. They are from two different Hero Arts sets. After die cutting them I added Stickles to the turtle and down the seahorse (a little hard to see in the photo). I used Hero Arts cube inks for the turtle and seahorse. The seahorse ink is Hero Arts new reactive ink.

For the sentiment I die cut that out of the same shimmer panel used for the background.

Hero Arts Magnolia in Purple

While I was looking for magnolias on Pinterest, I saw some purple, YES Purple, magnolias.  Mine did not turn out quite like the ones I saw, but I’ll claim artistic license.  I ran some Washi tape diagonally  and added a sentiment.  Have fun with your flower entries for this month.

Hero Arts Safari Wild About You Embossing

Howdy! Are you all having a good weekend? Most of us are seeing some sunny days.

I have a safari card for you today. The safari sets are some of my very favorite Hero Arts stamps. All of the animals and the hunter are from the Safari Wild About You stamp set in the a2z Etsy store.

Hero Arts Safari Wild About You

To start off my card I got out a couple of pieces of watercolor paper and a couple Ken Oliver Color Burst colors. For the sunset I used an orange and a yellow. The yellow has a bit of a blue here and there which I wanted in there. I mixed it with water and painted that on and did a little sprinkling of the powder which I blended in with a brush. After that panel dried I cut out the sunset with a die.

Next came the background. I also used a couple Ken Oliver Color Burst colors. I got it watered down and blended a darker blue and a purple on watercolor paper.

For the animals and the hunter I stamped them with Versamark, sprinkled on some copper embossing powder and heat embossed them. On the giraffe I added a bit of a yellow/gold embossing powder to add a little different color. I then die cut them out. I got the idea early on in the planning that I wanted to do the animals in copper. The bird above the tree is stamped with a copper ink.

The tree is cut out of a cool looking copper paper that has some shimmer to it.

The sentiment comes from another safari set. I really need a bunch of thank you cards so that is the sentiment I picked.

Flowers for Coloring

Die Cut Flowers for Coloring

Howdy! Here I am with some die cut flowers to lighten up the cold, rainy and in some places snowy winter days.

Flowers for Coloring

I started out by putting down some watercolors on watercolor paper using a little set my husband gave me for Christmas. Some of the colors have a pearly shimmer but it is hard to see in the photo. Next I stamped several of the flowers and leaves from the Flowers for Coloring stamp set over the watercolor areas using Versamark ink & Hero Arts white embossing powder. I used the matching Flowers for Coloring die set to cut them out.

I then dry embossed a panel using a Sizzix embossing folder. That was glued to the card base.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark & heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I die cut this out using the matching dies.

I layered up the flowers and leaves and glued them down along with the sentiment.

There’s still time to create a card for the January challenge Anything Goes. Another idea for these flowers, would be to stamp over patterned paper and die cut or hand cut them out.

Hero Arts You Are Appreciated

Hello everyone! Here is the card I made for my second monthly post at a2z Scrapbooking.  I was thumbing through some of my older Stamper’s Sampler magazines, specifically a “Catch Up Issue” and it reminded me of how we used to decorate cards with fibers.  I still have a HUGE drawer full of fibers, so I dug some out to decorate this card:

YouAreAppreciated a2z

I hope you can find some time to join me and all my talented teammates in the a2z Scrapbooking monthly challenge; the November theme is “Give Thanks.”  Can’t have enough thank you cards on hand if you ask me! For all the details on how I made this card please pop over to my personal bog, Art Without Anxiety.   Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my post! You are appreciated!!

Thankful for you

Hi all, its Gwendolyn and I’m back this Sunday to share a very simple to make card with a technique that’s apparently all the rage at the moment – ombre ink blending on coloured card stock to leave a spotlight for your main image, which in my case is the cute baby polar bear sitting on an iceberg, from Hero Arts Polar Greetings stamp set, which you can get from the a2z scrapbooking store.

ombre products

I first saw this done by Kensija (Sweetkobylkin) and loved what she did with her cards so I decided to try it. I started with a blank card base from the Hero Arts Pool Mixed Folded cards set, using the lightest pool colour card, which is like a very light teal colour. I started blending Mermaid lagoon distress oxide all around the card, with a very light blend in the centre of the card just so there were no blend marks, I then added Faded Jeans around the borders and a little black on the edges. I went over everything with Mermaid Lagoon again so that everything was nice and blended. The idea is to have a very light centre and it gets darker as you move towards the edges of the card.

I stamped the iceberg directly on the card, coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils &  finished with a brush of my Spectrum Noir Illustrator clear sparkle pen to make it appear as the ice is glistening.  The little polar bear was stamped on another card stock, coloured with my coloured pencils too and fussy cut. Before adhering this to my card, I flicked some white paint on the top part of the card to resemble snow and a little water on the bottom part of the card to resemble water bubbles.

I then stuck on my baby bear and stamped the sentiment, which comes from Hero Arts “Thank You” messages set with black ink from the Hero Arts Swan layering ink set. So a very simple clean and simple card to make but with great effect don’t you think?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great creative day!

Gwendolyn

Hero Arts Peonies Thanks

Hello,

Cindy here to share another Thank You card.  Who says Peonies are only for Spring and Summer?  I bet you can use it all year long!  I used my favorite Fall colors and Peonies for my project, and I like it!  🙂

The outlines of the Peonies looks like gold heat embossing, but it is actually foiling.  I first clear heat embossed the peonies and then I reheat part by part and place foil sheet over it and press down with bone folder.

The sentiment from the same Peonies set is stamped in black and clear heat embossed.  And I added a few sequins to complete the card.  Hop over to my blog, Escape To Stamping to get more details.

The Hero Arts Peonies Clear Stamp set is really pretty.  It is still available at a2z Scrapbooking.  Get your own today.  Scroll down to get my promote code and save yourself 15% of any purchases $25 or over before shipping.  Remember to Request Custom Order if you don’t see the items you want in the store.

Wait!!  Don’t go just yet.  The On Sale section in the a2z store is 50% off right now.  Lots of goodies there including Christmas stuff, like this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one.  Hurry before they’re all gone.  Click Here.

Hero Arts Leafy Vines Thanks

a2z scrapbooking november challenge

Hello everyone! Here is my first card for the month of November and a2z Scrapbooking “Give Thanks” challenge.  I used some older Hero Arts stamps to create this card:

Leafy Vines, Thank You Stamp & Cut

I hope you like the fall colors and the sparkle.  This background, Leafy Vines, is one of my absolute favorites; it’s so versatile and you can see all the ways other crafters have created with it with a quick Pinterest search {while you are there, don’t forget to follow a2z Scrapbooking – the link is at the bottom of this post.}  If you’d like to see all the details regarding this card please pop on over to my personal blog Art Without Anxiety.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

Hero Arts Color Layering Pomegranate Thanks

Hi everyone,

I am sharing a Thank You card featuring Hero Arts Color Layering Pomegranate today.  I did the usual stamp and watercolor, but for the Pomegranates I die cut with the matching frame and watercolor only.  I was happy with the result but they needed some ‘zing’, to enhance the look I used a very unusual element – beet juice!  Yup you read it right.

I share a comparison of the card before beet juice on my blog, you can check it there, Escape To Stamping.
