Hero Arts Magnolia in Purple

While I was looking for magnolias on Pinterest, I saw some purple, YES Purple, magnolias.  Mine did not turn out quite like the ones I saw, but I’ll claim artistic license.  I ran some Washi tape diagonally  and added a sentiment.  Have fun with your flower entries for this month.

April Fold Card With Sugartree Hug in a Mug

Arlene here and I have a little (not so little) plastic folder with images in different sizes so that I can use them in the future and they sometimes prompt my creative brain (not the one usually in use) to go with the flow.  This is exactly what happened here.  I cut out the cup and chose the color of cardstock, cut it and went on from there.  I thought I’d sweeten the cup with sugar and saw red yet again.  I searched my ribbon box and came up with that great red and green plaid and added the other ribbon to liven up the design.  I wasn’t sure about lining up the top tag, but went with it on a slight diagonal.  It is pretty awesome in real life.  Hoping this inspires you to get your fold on!

I am at A Bit of This and That if you’d like to visit.

Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia on a Shaped Card

I’ve used several different colors on this lovely magnolia image and love them all.  The image lends itself to a circle so well too.  I like the way this particular die-cut enhances the flower.   You know how you create something you’d rather keep (I know there are a lot), than give away.  This is one of those I would rather keep.

Hero Arts Butterflies with a Spiral Stencil

This is one of the few times I have not used a die cut machine, but I wanted a simple one layer card and again used a monochrome card which you might have seen on our March 1st post here at A2Z Scrapbooking.  I hadn’t tried this technique of just putting a long post-it through a card and inking up the rest of the card in a long time and I like how this turned out.   I didn’t want a long sentiment, so I searched for and found a short sentiment to go with the lovely soft butterfly.

Hero Arts CM165 Color Layering Sea Turtle

Hi! It’s Sue. Surprise – not a Christmas card this time! I’m dreaming of my planned trip to Hawaii. Hence, my card for today.

This sea turtle stamp reminds me of the beautiful waters off Hawaii and all the sea critters in those waters. For this card, I started with the background panel. I used distress inks (salty ocean, peacock feathers) added with a water brush onto 96 lb bristol. I added the colours to try to mimic the oceans around Hawaii. I also inked up the turtle using my MISTI and distress inks (twisted citron, mowed lawn, forest moss). I spritzed each inked stamp with water for a watercolour effect. I fussy cut the turtle. I inked up the seaweed with Hero Arts field greens and stamped with both first and second generation stamping. I used a sentiment from a different stamp set.

Casing a Designer with Hero Arts Feathers

Happy September all.  Delia again, with another take on using digital files, while also keeping it in the theme of “Case a Designer”.  Well, I have a few favourite designers, but at the very, very top is a most amazing lady called Ola Khomenok, she is from the Ukraine and her work is amazing, lots of layers, colours and just bits and pieces.  She uses loads of stencils initially when building up her page and then she makes what she does look sooo easy and it truly does my head in.  I watch her videos over and over again and am always left in awe of her talent.  I am trying very hard to emulate her style at the moment which I call “collage style”, but it really is just “Ola style” as she has a truly beautiful talent that I am actually very jelly of.  Aaaagh, but it is always good to have those that push us to be better.  I am not sure what my issue is in my difficulty in trying to emulate her style, but I think it has a lot to do with wastage.  I am frugal when it comes to using my large collection of flowers, chipboard, ephemera and bits and pieces as it all costs lots of money and I just don’t want to waste it – even though it isn’t really wasting it.  I know that Ola is on some major design teams and would be showered with product and deservedly so, but that is not reality for most of us and so I am very considered when I put my layouts together.  I also am just not yet as talented as she!

Jacobi-scrapbookpage-a2zsept1

So, here is my layout using the Hero Arts Feather Digital Cut file, which has the most awesome feather shape ever!  Clearly that was my hero in the layout, but I had lots of fun with this layout.  Firstly, I put the feathers through my Silhouette machine and then out came the Nuvo wax pastes in various colours and painted them and then I foiled them and sealed the foil off.  May I say how tedious foiling is…. those fiddly things and me are not the greatest of friends.  I truly did hide behind the door when patience was handed out.  So, I had a bit of fun with colouring and things, building up the layers, adding more and more bits and pieces, until all finished.

That’s all from me until another week passes when I shall return with another ‘Case a Designer’ layout, which will probably be all about Ola.  She is my current challenge and I am not giving up until I can learn her skill and put it in my repertoire.  So, be kind, be good and enjoy your inner creative.  Please visit me at my website www.jacobicreations.com or my blog at jacobicreations.blogspot.com.au

Hero Arts CM172 Mix And Match Monsters

Hi everyone. It’s Sue here with a new card.

When I saw this Hero Arts stamp set, I knew that I just had to have it. The monsters are so cute and the parts can be mixed and matched. I’ll admit, it’s a bit fiddly – lots of small pieces. What I did, I started by stamping the three monster bodies, then the arms, legs and antennae, then the eyes and mouths on some 96 lb bristol. I added colour with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush. I added glossy accents to the eyes for a bit of dimension and shine. I added shading with a copic. I trimmed the panel and matted with black. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.

Save Our National Parks

Hero Arts Tags and Destinations

I’ve always liked the Hero Arts Tags dies.  You can let your creative juices go.  If you’ve never seen the National parks in the U.S., you really should.  My family traveled in the summer to different natural places.  Memories of the colored pools and geysers in Yellowstone will last the rest of my life.  Incredible views and experiences.  I used some Oxide distress inks here with a sentiment and a couple Destination wood stamps.

Have fun creating.

Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China oxide inks spritzed with water.  Hero Arts sentiment out of stock.

Wilted Violet, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Oxide Inks spritzed with a homemade colored water.  Two very old cheap moon and clouds stamps were added.        Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

Iced Spruce, Cracked Pistachio, Fired Brick and Fossilized Amber Oxide Inks were spritzed with water and an 1992 Stampin Up postmark added.  Buffalo colored with Copic marker W3 and trees colored with G03.  Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

My samples are at A Bit of This and That.

Enjoy the Journey

Hero Arts Enjoy the Journey With Destinations for your calendar

This is a continuation of my calendar that I posted on June 4th.

And here it is July 4th, time to celebrate.  Happy 4th of July!

I think the Destination stamps are great stamps to use if you are journeying to one of these destinations.  Sending a “Wish you were here” note might be kind of sappy, but you can certainly stamp any Destination stamp on a post card and write a little something.

I liked the National Parks for September and October because those are end of summer travels where you can still enjoy the parks.  Some light touches of markers and you’re ready to go.  Remember that the calendars are double-sided, so you don’t want to use inks or markers that will show on the back of your coloring.

You can see I’m not quite straight on the stamping, but it’s not so noticeable on the actual calendar.  I used some older markers that don’t bleed through the papers.

Very simple coloring kept the calendar pages pretty neat and clean.

But November sports a nautical scene while December is sparkly and wintery.

The panel of wood the calendar page is resting on is a thin wood, pre-sticky piece which I won (EK TOOLS).  I thought it would suit the “wooden” ships.  I stamped and die cut the wood panels and only colored some of the sails.  A close-up will show you what I mean.

Close-up of November’s scene.  All of the details you see are from one stamp set and one Die set, even the waves. Say hello to Enjoy the Journey.

End of the 2017 year for the first year of my calendar.  The Hero Arts Layering Christmas Tree looks great for a forest of trees.  I wanted a bright season so I die cut some gold paper (unknown brand) with an Elizabeth Craft Designs die.  I wasn’t going to stamp a tree directly on the calendar, only the top, but the mini stamp pad landed directly on the calendar.  Oops – save the page by using the green stamp mark as a base for the tree.

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts!!! Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you another shaped card and my last card as a Designer for a2z Scrapbooking Supplies. These two years have been amazing to me but I am leaving the team because I need to take care of some personal things but I want to let you know that I love my time sharing with you and creating with amazing products.

I'd Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

To make my card I used a Circle Stitched Die Cut that I cut twice. The first time with the card stock folded to create the card base and the second using a single layer of card stock that I decorated and pasted over the base.

  1. Use the Spiral Petals Stencil and the Hero Arts Aegean Bold Ink to create the background with the ombre effect. I used a sponge to have better control over the effect.
  2. Stamp the flowers including on the stamp set Color Layering Hibiscus using three different colors of ink. For the base I used the Butter Bar and for the accent I used the Red Royal, colors included on the collection Water Lilies Layering. For the center of the flowers I used Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink.
  3. Fussy cut the flowers or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  4. Stamp the leafs using Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink for the base and Hero Arts Pine Ink.
  5. Fussy cut the leafs or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  6. Assemble the flowers and leafs on the top of your card using dimensionals and snail adhesive.
  7. Stamp the sentiment from the stamp set I’d Never Forget You using Hero Arst Intensive Black Ink.

I'd Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

What do you think?  Please let know below.

Thank you for this amazing year and I hope to be with you soon!!!
