Hero Arts Happy Holidays Christmas Mice

I’d say these Christmas Mice were saying Happy Holidays to you.  I grabbed a piece of 6″ X 6″ paper and cut it down to fit on the A2 size card for a different look to a holiday card.  I had a “Happy Holidays” panel cut a bit short in my stash that I wanted to use, so this is how I arrived at the design.  Add two mice and a couple dots of Nuvo and we’re done.  This looks great in real life.

Be sure to join in the challenge and visit the store for some outrageous sales at A2Z Scrapbooking.

Hero Arts Christmas Mice All Through The House

Image may contain: text

We must thank Kristina for the wonderful farewell graphic for our last challenge.  Be sure to visit the shop for big discounts.

Again, I’m using non-traditional colors to make a Christmas card.  I couldn’t help it, the “mice” made me do it!  In this case, it was one mouse, but I’m holding her responsible.  I cut the sentiment in two.  I know, I lose small stuff too, but I had to do it.  I think this is a fun card and I still think it’s cute after letting it sit overnight on my desk.  I don’t know if anyone else has to step back and look with new eyes at their creations, but sometimes I do.  I wasn’t sure if the tree scene would work.

Be sure to enter our challenge.  Remember, it is our last challenge forever.

Hero Arts Poetic Petals for Autumn

I don’t know if you’re like me, but sometimes I’ll go through older cards and pull them apart, toss something I’m not happy with, and make a new card with part of an older card.   Whatever was on the front is long gone and I thought this would make a good Fall card.  I printed the petals out, colored this goodie here and decided to fussy cut the petal to put against the black and brown panel so the petals would pop.

Hero Arts Tiger Lily For You

Arlene here.

I think I sponged Mustard Seed distress ink through the stencil on the entire background panel.  I had created this flower more than a year ago and knew I wanted to use it this month with my newly created lilies for this month.  I wanted a more CAS style card, but with the flower popping off the page.  I quite like the style which is entirely different from my other tiger lily cards this month.  My first card was posted on our A2Z September 1st post and the second card on the September 3rd post.

I think most stencils such as the Hero Arts Scrollwork stencil would work well with this flower.  It’s a simple design that can be repeated over and over again.

I used a similar design and background on the card below September 1, 2018.

Poetic Petals is One of a Kind

I used a similar written background on a card here.   You can see that card right after my inspiration card below, however, I had printed everything right side up on that card.  You can see that I somehow copied the “Play in the Sunshine” and turned it upside down, not realizing it until I printed it.  I still saved it and I’m using it now.  I think the flower helps cover that part of the message enough that it won’t be noticeable when I give the card to a “one of a kind” friend.  That’s my reasoning, anyway, and I’m going to stick with it!

Come have some fun with us and enter the challenge of Anything Goes this month.  I’m at A Bit of This and That all the time!

Previous card on June 11, 2018 where I printed everything right side up and also printed the background above.

Hero Arts Tiger Lily Appreciate What Is

I really like heat embossing the last layer on this tiger lily in white.  I know it’s not a natural look, but it’s quite riveting in real life.  The flower becomes the stunning focus on the card.  So happy to share this flower with you.  You can find me at A Bit of This and That.

It’s a Birthday Bash Month

I think this is my favorite birthday card I made this month.  I had sponged all different colors of distress inks on 8″ X 18″ paper from 20 years ago so I could put all my sponges in one place and see the colors.  Using the paper here was definitely the best thing ever.  The colors are fun and summery.  I sent this card to my daughter-in-law as it’s a feminine cheery card.  I kept the images in black and white for balance.  I  hope you like it too.

It’s a Birthday Bash This Month

This card seemed to flow from the colors.  I colored the cake in, set aside and looked for a stencil.  I think I used Tattered Rose distress ink to color in the stencil.  I believe I colored the cake in RV colors and used the same color for the flames as the “Happy” die-cut.  I know flames are usually yellow, but I just couldn’t use yellow here.  Using the cake as a backdrop, I die-cut “Birthday” in white.  The background makes this card feel and look so feminine.  This turned out better than I thought when I first started with its creation.

Lots of Sparkle and Shine with Hero Arts Garden Fancy Die

Lots of sparkle and shine here.  The background is from shiny paper covered with Distress Inks with some sprinkles of water. I thought there was so much glitter and sparkle, that I didn’t want to add anything but a sentiment.  I sponged on several Distress inks on the card stock to make a more earthy card.

Close-up below:

On my last post of July 3rd, I showed you what I stored my Stickles in and now onward to how I store my Distress ink sponges.   Several months ago I was watching Els of Elizabeth Craft Designs do some sponging on die pieces and replayed the video to see what she used to hold the sponges.  I saw a plastic box and thought “that’s what I’m looking for!”  I checked out grocery store plastics for different baked goods and paper stores for plastic containers.  Finally, after picking up something at Michael’s I found a plastic box about 7 1/2 by 5 1/4 inches and an inch deep.  I figured I could fit 4 sponges across and 5 down for 20 on each side of the box.  Depending on how many distress inks you have, you may want something larger.  This seemed like a good size for me, one container for my distress inks (35) and one container for my Oxide inks.  I think if you could find a container 3/4 inches deep, that would work out really well too.

This container holds my distress oxide inks.  I labeled the names on the outside of the containers so I don’t have to guess.

Hero Arts Sparkle and Shine Astral Digital

I wanted to add sparkle and shine to my card and celebrate the USA’s July 4th.  Unfortunately, you cannot see the Stickles smeared across the blue stripes of the larges star in this photo.  I may try to take another for all the sparkle.  The round dots are all Nuvo Midhnight Blue pops of shine..  I thought a bike would throw a bit of old fashioned fun into the mix.  The bike is cut from a Cola can, so the tin is very shiny.  I guess that this could be a cool masculine card, looking at the boy’s bike.

Have fun with our theme this month and let your creations sparkle and shine.

I’m finding it very difficult to photograph the sparkle on this star.  I added some Crystal stickles to the Blue for more sparkle and it really sparkles in real life, but doesn’t really show up here.

I do have one additional photo and it’s my new storage solution for all (ALL) my stickles and some re-inkers.  You can fit 20 Stickles in this case and some re-inkers will fit double, just not my Distress re-inkers.  But I can fit 10 of those and can SEE them without picking them up one at a time.  Yeah for me.  I am in an organizing mood and on my next post, I’ll be showing you how I store my distress ink sponges.
