Hero Arts Poetic Petals for Autumn

I don’t know if you’re like me, but sometimes I’ll go through older cards and pull them apart, toss something I’m not happy with, and make a new card with part of an older card.   Whatever was on the front is long gone and I thought this would make a good Fall card.  I printed the petals out, colored this goodie here and decided to fussy cut the petal to put against the black and brown panel so the petals would pop.

April Fold Card With Sugartree Hug in a Mug

Arlene here and I have a little (not so little) plastic folder with images in different sizes so that I can use them in the future and they sometimes prompt my creative brain (not the one usually in use) to go with the flow.  This is exactly what happened here.  I cut out the cup and chose the color of cardstock, cut it and went on from there.  I thought I’d sweeten the cup with sugar and saw red yet again.  I searched my ribbon box and came up with that great red and green plaid and added the other ribbon to liven up the design.  I wasn’t sure about lining up the top tag, but went with it on a slight diagonal.  It is pretty awesome in real life.  Hoping this inspires you to get your fold on!

I am at A Bit of This and That if you’d like to visit.

Digi Dueling with Merry Backgrounds

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to show off the Merry Background digital stamp set from Hero Arts. Arlene and I both took the digi stamp and came up with two different cards, though we did stick with red, green and black and white, without knowing what the other one was making. I used the digi in gray, she used it in black. It also comes in five other color combos.

Arlene used some beautiful red metallic paper that really pops against the black background. I think it’s classy and perfect for a Christmas card.

Arlene’s Supplies:

Here’s my card, using the stamp. I used Tombow markers to color in some of the bulbs and one of the words.

Spooky Labels for a Spooky Duel

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to share my October Digi Duel with Arlene. We got to play with the Hero Arts Spooky Labels digital stamps and it was fun! I love Halloween paper products…okay, I’m addicted to them…even though I never make enough projects to use all my paper and embellies and stamps. Luckily, these digi stamps don’t take up room in my craft stash!

il_570xN.633286803_r07e

Arlene made a festive Halloween card here with the stamp that says October 31. It even comes with its own spider web. Arlene went for fun and colorful and she nailed it…I know some nieces and nephews who would love this one!

I went more for spooky and vintage, using the Trick-or-Treat sentiment. I used black, silver and white to make this spooky. The paper is silver shimmer paper and the bat has some silver foil to make it shine. You can see more shininess in the close-up.

Seventh Heaven Digi Duel

Hi, friends, Chark here today with Arlene to duke it out…or duel it out…with each other. We’re both using the Hero Arts digi stamp set called Seventh Heaven. Basically, we each took the digis and made our own projects to pit them against each other. Ka-pow! Just kidding, no DT members were hurt in this duel.

Here are Arlene’s two projects…check her blog for more details. I love how this sun really pops on her backgrounds–they look like swirling clouds, don’t you think?

Arlene’s Supplies:

  • Hero Arts digital kit 7th Heaven at A2Z
  • Hero Arts digital kit Birthday Bash (sentiment) at A2Z
  • Elizabeth Craft Design Stitched Rectangles
  • QuicKutz Nesting Circle Dies
  • The Paper Studio “Pastel Marble” paper
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss Midnight Blue
  • Vagabond die cut machine

And here’s my square card. I looovved the sun in this set and it’s already colored, so using it makes for a fast card. I added a sentiment from the set in the middle of the sun, printed it and adhered it to a square card. I added a ribbon from my stash and I was finished!

• 7th Heaven Digi Stamps

• Ribbon and cardstock from stash

Digi Dueling with Constellations

Hi, friends, it’s time for two Design Team members to duel it out with the same digi kit. This month, though, you can win two star-themed digi stamps and so we had the choice of two different kits. So this month, Arlene chose the Constellation set and I went for The Firmament set. They’re very similar and work well together too!

I used a few of the stamps from the set to make this card front and then used a glue pen that stays sticky to add silver foil (not heat-set foil) the purple stripes are foil on thin tape. I added a few doodles with the glue pen to add more purple foil.

You can see the shininess in this close-up.

Hope you’ll play along with our challenge this month and try to win both of these digi sets and maybe even $20 to the store! Check the challenge link at the top of the page for all the details.

Sugartree Stamps Unicorn Digital Stamp

Chase Rainbows with Sugartree Stamps

I adored unicorns when I was a little girl, and I still have a soft spot for them, even though I don’t collect them anymore. So, when I saw this stinkin’ cute digi stamp from Sugartree Stamps, I knew I had to color him up.

Digital Stamp Unicorn

You can use just the unicorn or add the background in, and I decided to just print out the unicorn. The sentiments are included as well.

IMG_6200

I used Prismacolor pencils (my fave coloring medium) and a white Uniball pen for highlights in the mane and tail and eye. I also used a silver Molotow pen to add hearts around the unicorn and to color the hooves. I like to use the black Prismacolor pencil to shade around the edges and make the image pop a bit.

If you’ve gotta have this unicorn, you’re in luck! He’s at the a2z Scrapbooking store and is only 99 cents!

Happy Monday!

Hero Arts Notes and Dates Digi Duel

Today is our monthly Digital Duel with two of our Design Team members, where we feature the digi prize for our May Challenge…it’s always interesting to see what two different designers do with the same stamp set. Today Arlene and I (Chark) are going head to head. Who will come out unscathed? We’ll have to see! En garde, mon amie!

Here’s a look at the Notes and Dates digi stamp set.

aaa

Here’s Arlene’s card with the stamp set. She enlarged the calendar to fit the card front and then highlighted some of the sentiments. You can go to Arlene’s blog to see more details.

April Showers Digi Duel

En garde! It’s that time again, when two team members use the same digital stamp set to create two different projects. This month, the team members are me, Chark, and Arlene and the prize for this month’s challenge is April Showers.

il_570xN.659795252_38dx

Arlene has this adorable, perfect-for-spring boot card. She kept the colors all in blues, which totally matches the “miss you” sentiment. A fun but still sincere way to tell someone you wish you could see them.

  • Hero Arts digital kit April Showers at A2Z Scrapbooking
  • Little B Handwritten
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles & alphabet 2 – lower case
  • Vagabond die cut machine

On my card, I’ve used the rainbow image, along with the sun and a sentiment from the set. I wanted to use the rainbow order, so I added some black marker lines to make room for more colors on the stamp, and I think my wonky lines look okay with this whimsical rainbow. I trimmed the sun so it could peek from behind the rainbow and glued on the aptly named Sunshine Ombre Sequins after coloring with yellow-orange Tombow marker.
