Hero Arts Haunted Digital Kit With Oxide Ink Blending

In keeping with our challenge theme I created a holiday card. Halloween is a fun holiday for me. I like decorating around the house and the front yard. My card is a combination of using digital images, ink blending and stamping.

Hero Arts Haunted Digital Kit

The first thing I did when creating my card was take the haunted house from the Hero Arts Haunted Digital kit and had my Cameo cut it out. I had to change the png image by using trace and then I resized it. It did take a while to cut because it has all this tiny holes in the house for a distressed look.

Then I did some ink blending with 1 Hero Arts Reactive Ink and 3 Oxide Distress Inks on the background. I sprayed the background a bit with a mini mister.

I used the pumpkin from the digital kit also. I resized it and duplicated it to make 3 pumpkins. I colored the stems with a brown Copic pen and the faces with yellow.  I hand cut them out. One of the pumpkins is raised with one of those really thick glue dots.

The sentiment I cut out with Hero Arts set Halloween Trimmings stamp and cut. I put some Versamark on the words and then sprinkled on some black embossing powder and heat embossed it. There are several different embossing powders in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store including a detail black and a sparkle black.

The witch is a cute little stamp from my stash.

The a2z Scrapbooking store has great sales going on! Run don’t walk and check it out!

Hero Arts Poetic Petals for Autumn

I don’t know if you’re like me, but sometimes I’ll go through older cards and pull them apart, toss something I’m not happy with, and make a new card with part of an older card.   Whatever was on the front is long gone and I thought this would make a good Fall card.  I printed the petals out, colored this goodie here and decided to fussy cut the petal to put against the black and brown panel so the petals would pop.

Poetic Petals is One of a Kind

I used a similar written background on a card here.   You can see that card right after my inspiration card below, however, I had printed everything right side up on that card.  You can see that I somehow copied the “Play in the Sunshine” and turned it upside down, not realizing it until I printed it.  I still saved it and I’m using it now.  I think the flower helps cover that part of the message enough that it won’t be noticeable when I give the card to a “one of a kind” friend.  That’s my reasoning, anyway, and I’m going to stick with it!

Come have some fun with us and enter the challenge of Anything Goes this month.  I’m at A Bit of This and That all the time!

Previous card on June 11, 2018 where I printed everything right side up and also printed the background above.

It’s a Birthday Bash Month

I think this is my favorite birthday card I made this month.  I had sponged all different colors of distress inks on 8″ X 18″ paper from 20 years ago so I could put all my sponges in one place and see the colors.  Using the paper here was definitely the best thing ever.  The colors are fun and summery.  I sent this card to my daughter-in-law as it’s a feminine cheery card.  I kept the images in black and white for balance.  I  hope you like it too.

Guest Designer August 2019

Hello,

Please join me and welcome August’s Guest Designer, Sue Nagata!

This is her adorable card, and how she created it.  You could also get more details on her blog post here.

I used Sugartree Stamps’ Party Animal digital kit for my card – specifically, the awesome partying penguin and the sentiment.  I printed the penguin with my inkjet printer on white cardstock, trimmed to A2 card size and added colour with Copic markers.  I printed the sentiment on some orange/gold cardstock and trimmed it to a double ended fishtail banner.  To complete the card, I added a shiny “pompom” with a rhinestone.

It’s a Birthday Bash This Month

This card seemed to flow from the colors.  I colored the cake in, set aside and looked for a stencil.  I think I used Tattered Rose distress ink to color in the stencil.  I believe I colored the cake in RV colors and used the same color for the flames as the “Happy” die-cut.  I know flames are usually yellow, but I just couldn’t use yellow here.  Using the cake as a backdrop, I die-cut “Birthday” in white.  The background makes this card feel and look so feminine.  This turned out better than I thought when I first started with its creation.

Hero Arts Sparkle and Shine Astral Digital

I wanted to add sparkle and shine to my card and celebrate the USA’s July 4th.  Unfortunately, you cannot see the Stickles smeared across the blue stripes of the larges star in this photo.  I may try to take another for all the sparkle.  The round dots are all Nuvo Midhnight Blue pops of shine..  I thought a bike would throw a bit of old fashioned fun into the mix.  The bike is cut from a Cola can, so the tin is very shiny.  I guess that this could be a cool masculine card, looking at the boy’s bike.

Have fun with our theme this month and let your creations sparkle and shine.

I’m finding it very difficult to photograph the sparkle on this star.  I added some Crystal stickles to the Blue for more sparkle and it really sparkles in real life, but doesn’t really show up here.

I do have one additional photo and it’s my new storage solution for all (ALL) my stickles and some re-inkers.  You can fit 20 Stickles in this case and some re-inkers will fit double, just not my Distress re-inkers.  But I can fit 10 of those and can SEE them without picking them up one at a time.  Yeah for me.  I am in an organizing mood and on my next post, I’ll be showing you how I store my distress ink sponges.

Hero Arts Tags With A Spiral Stencil Twist

It’s Arlene here with a second post this month.

It’s Anything but a Card Month here at A2Z Scrapbooking.  I rarely make tags for any occasion but Christmas, but my mind went wondering into the gray world of stencils and inks. I couldn’t make just one since I cut two dies, could I?

Since I used white cardstock for my tags, I wanted to give some depth to the tag and chose the Spiral Stencil die with one of Hero Arts Ombre inks.  Yes, I do have pages of pre-printed images from the Hero Arts kits and that’s how I created these cards, matching size and shape, images and sentiments.

Sometime things just turn out better than you planned and these did.  I need something on my desk to click me into creativity and I know some people need that clean desk to open their vision.  That’s not me.  As soon as I clean up my desk, I am blank, but put a couple images or dies on the table and my mind starts working again.

Hero Arts Gingerbread House With Words of Love

I finished the other side of my scheduler and am sharing it today  The monthly theme is “Anything But A Card”.    I used the color Mood Board for February, but brought Xmas, houses, loops and trees together, some dissimilar items that seem to fit perfectly well on my scheduler.  I have a lot to keep track of.

Page with the insert peeking up listing my dates, themes & images below.

I used two digi kits, one stamp & die set and copic markers in grays and RV shades.  The Christmas tree and words (LOVE) are colored in grays and RV, a strange combination for a tree, but it works.

Hero Arts Birthday Bash U Fold

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I am inspired by this month’s challenge theme: Fun Folds, and tried a new fold myself.  This one is called the “U fold”.  Let’s take a look.

I think a picture is worth a thousand words.  Everything is pretty self explanatory.  But I do want to mention that my card base size is 7.5 inched in width and 4.25 inches high, after you fold the one side, the card becomes the same size as an A2 card.  The scores are done at 1 inch, 2 inch, 5.5 inch and 6.5 inch.  So the area left in the middle is 3.5 by 4.25 inches.

Two digi stamp sets were used for this card, I use the Artistic Circles for the background.  The sentiment and birthday cake are added on top of the background and printed all at once, then I colored the cake with markers.  The balloons are printed separately, colored, hand cut and glued to the sides.  The strings are hand drawn with a black glaze pen.  Here’s the beauty shot.

I hope I’ve inspired you to join in our Fun Folds Challenge this month.  Check the details below and play along!
