Hero Arts Tiger Lily For You

Arlene here.

I think I sponged Mustard Seed distress ink through the stencil on the entire background panel.  I had created this flower more than a year ago and knew I wanted to use it this month with my newly created lilies for this month.  I wanted a more CAS style card, but with the flower popping off the page.  I quite like the style which is entirely different from my other tiger lily cards this month.  My first card was posted on our A2Z September 1st post and the second card on the September 3rd post.

I think most stencils such as the Hero Arts Scrollwork stencil would work well with this flower.  It’s a simple design that can be repeated over and over again.

I used a similar design and background on the card below September 1, 2018.

Hero Arts Tiger Lily Appreciate What Is

I really like heat embossing the last layer on this tiger lily in white.  I know it’s not a natural look, but it’s quite riveting in real life.  The flower becomes the stunning focus on the card.  So happy to share this flower with you.  You can find me at A Bit of This and That.

Mini Note Pad Holder

Hello Crafty Friends – Annie here with a fun project.

You can make this in about an hour or less.

These mini note pad holders are perfect to add to a gift basket or just as is.Adobe_20190529_204825

So, Let’s begin the project. – I like to break it down into a few steps.

1. Stamp the images (which are layering bird, leaves, branch and flowers). Fussy cut them. Then, Stamp the sentiment on a banner shape. Set them aside while you work on the cover. Next, trim the 12″ x 12″ White heavyweight card stock into 3-1/2″ x 11-3/4″.  Save the remaining card stock for another project.
2. let’s score the cover for our note pad. Using a scoring board or a trimmer channel – using the bone folder – score at  5″ & 5-1/4″.  Then at 10-1/4″ & 10- 3/8″. Next, crease the score lines – using the bone folder.

3. Apply a bit of gesso to your cover. heat set or air dry (I heat set). Then, spray some Heidi Swapp Color Shine, Tim Holtz Distress Stain Spray. Heat set to dry.

4. Adhere the pad into the cover. Place adhesive of choice on the back of the note pad and the creased section of the cover. I added an extra piece cardstock to the inside of the cover as well as to the bottom closer.  Press firmly.

Next, push on the crease to the top of the note pad really sticks to the cover. I use the bone folder to press it. Plus it will give it a nice crisp look.

5. Now, Adhere the branch to the cover. Then, the larger flowers. Followed by the leaves and the smaller flowers which I added a bit of foam adhesive.

Next, adhere the bird to the branch having the back leg touching the branch. Then, add the sentiment onto a banner and adhere to the bottom flap.

6. Now, for the closer – I peel off one Velcro tab and center it onto the other – stacking them. The Velcro has strong adhesive this is why I only expose one side first – I then center the Velcro stack onto the lower tab – press in place – then remove the remain plastic backing and press the lower tab closed.

Finally, Add a few embellishments. I added a few sequins at the top left and by the sentiment. I added one to each of the flower centers.

Now, your Mini Notepad Holder is complete!
You can Modify this tutorial using a masculine design and colors.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today. I hope you found some inspiration!

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly Home Decor

Hello! I am here today with a home decor project I made for my craft room. Our monthly challenge is all about Anything But a Card so here we have it. I tell you I am happy to get nudged to make a fun project that is not a card. I used two Hero Arts sets for this which are Color Layering Monarch Butterfly and Flowers for Coloring. Both are available for purchase in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. Use my discount code Karen15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly

I bought this little box at Michaels with a coupon. I got it to put my dies in after using them so they don’t get lost in the piles.

The first thing was get out the book pages and cut them to fit on each side of the box. I could not get my Mod Podge open so I used 3 in 1 glue which worked better than I thought.

Second stamp the color layering butterfly. This layering butterfly is pretty darn easy to line up. I did use my Misti but it was easier than some of them can be. Tip: I stamp the bottom (largest amount of color) first and then end with the detailed stamp. On the lighter one I used 2 Avery Elle inks and Versafine Onyx Black ink. On the darker one I used 2 Oxide inks and the Versafine. I stamped these on some off white paper and hand cut them out. You can get the matching die in the Etsy shop also. Since you can’t really hand cut the antennae I just stamped the antennae on the book page where I was going to put the butterflies.

And now about the flowers and leaves. I used the Flowers for Coloring for that. I have enjoyed using this set and I think is one to check out. After stamping the flowers on the box I made a mask for each flower. I covered each one with the mask and then stamped the leaves. I colored all of them with colored pencils.

Then I glued the butterflies to the box. It is probably hard to see but I arched the top wings just a bit to give a tiny bit of dimension.

Then I inked around the edges with Oxide Distress ink and lightly here and there on the rest of the book page. I am very happy how it came out.

Here is a few more photos of each side.

Hero Arts Hanging Nasturtium

Hello,

Cindy here to share a CAS card featuring Hero Arts Nasturtium.  I combined it with a planter from the Stamp Your Own  succulent, and hand drawn some strings to make a hanging Nasturtium planter.

I could have just stamped the Nasturtium, mask it before stamping the planter.  But I wanted some dimension, but I don’t have the die cut for the Nasturtium.  So I did partial hand cut of the lower blooms and tugged the planter underneath.

The planter I stamped twice, once on white card stock and watercolored, and another time silver heat embossed on vellum.  I hand cut the watercolored planter closely; but when cutting the vellum one I left some space all around; then creased all the sides and wrapped the watercolored piece inside.  This way it looks like a glass planter with soil inside.  And I used my creative license to hand draw some extra stems to connect the Nasturtium image and the planter.

There’s still plenty time to join in and play along our May Flowers challenge.  Scroll down to get the details.

Heat Embossing with Hero Arts Beautiful Day Agapanthus

Hello to you all! Today I have a card with some heat embossing using the delicate Hero Arts Beautiful Day Agapanthus stamp set.  May Flowers is the theme for our monthly challenge if you would like to join in. You don’t have to twist my arm to make a floral card.

Hero Arts Beautiful Day Agapanthus

To start the card I stamped one of the bunches of agapanthus along with the stem and leaves and heat embossed with gold powder. I used my Misti to get things lined up nice. I used Bristol paper for this because I knew I was going to use Zig pens on it. I learned in a class that this is the best paper to use with the Zig pens and I find this to be true. So I colored the flowers, stem and leaves practicing some things from the class I took.

I cut out the flowers and mat using Hero Arts Oval dies. The mat is a purple color.

For the background I decided to heat emboss with the same gold powder. I used the other flower bunch in the set to stamp and heat emboss on each corner.

Then comes the sentiment which was the tricky part. I first die cut the words. Then I turned them upside down on the Versamark ink pad. I sprinkled on the gold embossing powder then moved them to a piece of paper. I decided that leaving them on a piece of paper and heat embossing from underneath was the best so the words would not blow away when I was using the heat gun.

Then it was just adhering everything to the card.

Hero Arts Magnolia in Yellow

I thought this yellow flower would be perfect for the month of May and just a nice way to say “hi” to a friend who might need a smile.  It’s bright and sunny which I feel should bring the sun to anyone.

The die cut piece on the left side of the flower reminds me of a vine growing up a trellis.  I hope you like this little creation.

Hero Arts Magnolia in Purple

While I was looking for magnolias on Pinterest, I saw some purple, YES Purple, magnolias.  Mine did not turn out quite like the ones I saw, but I’ll claim artistic license.  I ran some Washi tape diagonally  and added a sentiment.  Have fun with your flower entries for this month.

Guest Designer May 2019

Hello there,

We are very please to present our May Guest Designer, Ilina Grouse.   She is a former a2z DT and is currently on several design teams including Hero Arts.  I bet you’ve been inspired by her work just like I have.  Let’s hear from her and see what she created for us today.

Hi everyone,

I am honored to be a guest designer for A2ZScrapbooking this month. This month’s challenge is flowers, so I used the Color Layering TIger Lily set and dies, Peonies stamp set and the new Flower Garden Fancy dies.

To make my card I started by stamping the Tiger Lilies using Soft Pink, Bubble Gum and Raspberry Jam ink pads, next I die cut them using the coordinating dies. Set them aside.
Die cut the Flower Garden fancy die using Pitch Black card stock. Stamp sentiment from Peonies set in Versamark on Pitch Black card stock and emboss in white. Cut to size.
Assemble the elements onto top folding note card made from Pitch black card stock. Once done add pink Nuvo Drops to finish off the card.

Thank you so much for taking time to create for us Ilina.  This card is just amazing.  To see more of Ilina’s beautiful work, hop over to her blog: Creativity Within.  Or connect with her on Facebook.

Hero Arts Bright Blossoms Tea Cup

Hello,

I am inspired by both our May challenge theme (May Flowers) and the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers’ Bloghop to create this Get Well card.

The flower is printed using Hero Arts Bright Blossoms digi kit on heavy card stock, and watercolored, and then hand cut.  The tea cup is die cut using Hero Arts Nesting Tea Cup Infinity Dies.  It looks like there is a shadow on the cup right?  It is achieved by die cutting another cup using grey card stock and I glued the pattern one slightly offset.  🙂

My background has some subtle dry embossing on it, and the sentiment is just stamped in black.

Thanks for checking out my card.  I look forward to see your creation in our challenge gallery!
