New Beginnings: Graduation Part 2

Welcome Back! If you didn’t stop by yesterday, I’m featuring my current favorite Hero Arts stamp set, Alpha Tags. Yesterday I shared a great graduation card, and today I bring you a scrapbook page!

This is such a great stamp set for DIY titles and greetings.
I might of gone a little overboard 🙂

I’m not big on jouraling, but I like the idea of jounaling cards so I took one and turned it into a subway art type display with a ton of assorted stamp set from Hero Arts. I wanted the main focal point to be Nicholas 2009 so I stamped it in its own color. Next I stamped out “Hats Off”, Heat Embossed, and cut out with the matching die, followed by “To The Grad” which I stamped and heat embossed on a fishtail flag for a two part page title. I used my crop-a-dile to punch little holes in the flags to run some ribbon through, which I ended up adhering to buttons.

New Beginnings: Graduation Part 1

In keeping with this months New Beginnings theme I’m celebrating graduation here on the blog today and tomorrow! Graduation season is upon us!
Lot’s of fresh new adults entering the ‘real world’ with no where to go but up!
So it’s no doubt we celebrate the occasion! And what better way than with gold & glitter!

Graduation Card Hero Arts

I went with a blue and gold color combination primarily because this was for a boy, but also just seems like a great graduation color (because it was my high school colors tee-hee) but you could easily replicate using gold + any other color!

I used one of my FAVORITE alpha stamps for this project The letters are the PERFECT size. I find a lot of alpha stamps to be too big for a project or to small to stamp properly. This one is just right!

Here’s what I did for this card;

1. Start with a white a2 card base

2. Cut a dark colored base layer a step down smaller
I used a die but you could also trim a piece to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8

3. Cut a light colored layer a step down smaller. 4 x 5 1/4 and emboss
with your favorite embossing folder.

4. Stamp your greeting onto your dark colored cardstock and heat
emboss with coordinating embossing powder before cutting out.

5. Embellish with coordinating die cuts. I used this fun graduation
image from Cricut which I cut out and glittered generously.

I hope this inspires you to join us in this months new beginnings challenge for your chance at a $25 gift card to the store!

Winter Butterfly

I am so pleased to be a part of the a2z Scrapbooking design team and wanted to try something new with my Hero Arts butterfly die for my first post, which is perfect for our January Challenge.

This past week Jennifer McGuire had a video showing how to make a “no bulk shaker card”.  I basically followed her instructions but did my own variation.

First, I made the background for my card by inking up the HA circle lace stamp with Ranger weathered wood distress ink.

Then I spritzed it with water and stamped on watercolor paper and repeated doing this until the paper was covered.  If some areas were too dark, I just spritzed with a little more water and then let it dry.

After trimming my paper to 4″ x 5 1/4″, I die cut the butterfly.

Next I added double-sided tape all around the edges of the butterfly on the back of the card and positioned on a piece of acetate.

Sprinkled on some sequins, removed the backing from the tape, placed on another piece of acetate to sandwich in the sequins and then added all to the card base.

Repositioned the die cut butterfly on top by only adding glue down the center, added some more sequins and done.  I purposely didn’t add a sentiment as I wanted the emphasis to be on the butterfly – and any sentiment can be added to the inside – or not!

Take a look at my card:
