Welcome to a2z Scrapbooking and Happy National Coffee Day!!  We are so happy to be part of the National Coffee Day Blog Hop orgainized by the amazing Amy Tsuruta.

Before we get to the fun, we have an announcement to make. If you are a regular blog ready you’ve already heard that a2z scrapbooking co-founder and store director Linda Crissman passed away earlier this month following a long fought battle with Behcets disease. That being said, our store will be closing and sadly our blog will as well.

So here’s what you need to know

• Store will close October 31 or while inventory remains. Store closing sale starts today, All merchandise is at least 50% off regular retail. Now’s the time to stock up on inks, embossing powders, etc. If you have a stamp set you need a matching die for, grab it while they last! Digital Stamps are also marked down!
• Final Blog Challenge will be October 1st and run through October 31st with a special prize(s) for winners.

World Cardmaking Day Fun with Go Wild Digis

Hi, cardmaking buddies! So excited for World Cardmaking Day! For the first time here at a2z Scrapbooking Supplies, we’re celebrating with some blog fun.

First, take a look at this z-folded card I made…it’s my first fun-fold card. I love watching videos of how talented people create crazy fun-fold cards like those box cards that open into a 3-D project, but they seem too complicated for me, so I stay away from fancy stuff 🙂 This was super easy, though, all I had to do was cut an 5.5″x11″ piece of cardstock, score it in the middle and then score and fold back the front piece.

I printed the zebra stripes and then colored them with Tombow markers in pink and yellow, trimmed and adhered it to the card. I printed out the sentiment and colored it with purple and blue Tombows (using a waterbrush to pull the color up for an ombre look). I mounted that sentiment on cardstock and then adhered the little panel to the front fold of the card. Easy!! I couldn’t decide if I should add embellies, but the paper and multi-colored words seem like enough pizazz 🙂

They’re fun to use and easy and you can size them however you want. Often, I don’t even manipulate the stamp, I just print and color and add to my cards…but there are a lot of ways to use them.

Cardinal Stamping and Winner

Hi, friends! Today I have some color layering stamping to share. But this time, I’m stamping on wood and not paper. These wood tags are meant for mason jar labeling (I found them at the craft store) but I’ve used them to make a keychain and an ornament.

Distress Inks seem to work the best on the wood, with little feathering of the ink. I stamped both projects with the Color Layering Cardinal Stamp Set.

I used Distress Ink in Candy Apple and Mowed Lawn, Black Staz-On ink and Strawberry Hybrid Ink. Fast and easy and perfect for adding to a present or for an ornament exchange. You could add the year on the back or a name with stickers or marker.

 

I stamped the keychain with the mini flowers with this stamp set, using Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn, Candy Apple and Vintage Photo. Again, easy and fast to make and give. I think it’d be wise to spray a fixative on this if you’re worried about it getting wet. As you know, Distress Inks react with water.
