Words of Love Digital Duel

Hi, friends, today we have two fab team members dueling it out with the Hero Arts Words of Love digi stamps. Each month on the 11th, two team members will take the same digital stamp set (which is the monthly prize for our challenge) and see who can turn the stamps into the best project. While there are no swords and no real winners, it’s always a blast to see how two different designers take the same stamp and make it their own. We get inspiration from both projects, so I guess we’re the winners!

This month the digi is Words of Love and if you enter our challenge, you could be the randomly drawn winner of this February prize.  If want this one sooner, you can hop over to the store and pick it up for just $6.49! You can use any manufacturer’s products to enter for this versatile digi, but if you use Hero Arts products and you’re randomly chosen, you’ll win BOTH the digi set AND a $20 gift code to the store.

  • Copic markers RV09, RV11, B21 and B95
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Postage Stamp Squares
  • Assorted scrap papers
  • Scoring board for making the back folding panel to connect the postage die-cuts together
  • Vagabond die cut machine

And Cindy parries with this project using the same stamps.

Supplies:

•Hero Arts Digi Stamp – Words Of Love,

•Prismacolor Coloring pencils, Black Gel Pen, Black Marker

•Penny Blacking cutting die – Cut Out Border

That was fun! Thanks to Arlene and Cindy for entertaining us and thank you for joining us for the February Digital Duel, it’s cool to see the projects side by side and it’s hardly dangerous at all!

World Cardmaking Day Fun with Go Wild Digis

Hi, cardmaking buddies! So excited for World Cardmaking Day! For the first time here at a2z Scrapbooking Supplies, we’re celebrating with some blog fun.

First, take a look at this z-folded card I made…it’s my first fun-fold card. I love watching videos of how talented people create crazy fun-fold cards like those box cards that open into a 3-D project, but they seem too complicated for me, so I stay away from fancy stuff 🙂 This was super easy, though, all I had to do was cut an 5.5″x11″ piece of cardstock, score it in the middle and then score and fold back the front piece.

I printed the zebra stripes and then colored them with Tombow markers in pink and yellow, trimmed and adhered it to the card. I printed out the sentiment and colored it with purple and blue Tombows (using a waterbrush to pull the color up for an ombre look). I mounted that sentiment on cardstock and then adhered the little panel to the front fold of the card. Easy!! I couldn’t decide if I should add embellies, but the paper and multi-colored words seem like enough pizazz 🙂

And just for World Cardmaking Day, only our favorite readers and customers (that’s you!) get a 25% discount on the store! From October 7 (8am EDT) until October 8 (11:59pm EDT) you can pile whatever you want into your cart and then enter the code WorldDay25 and bam! you get your discount (except the clearance items, which are already priced crazy low).

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. That means you get your discount on brand-new holiday stamps and dies like this adorable Color Layering Baby Penguin set or Winter Silhouette set from Hero Arts.

You also get the 25% off for your supplies, like Nuvo Gilding Flakes and Glitter Paste, Chibi Lights, and the Wagner Heat Gun.

And you get 25% off your basics, like Gina K 120 lb Premium cardstock, Hero Arts cards/envelopes and adhesives! Who can’t use a discount on more glue pens and Stick-it sheets?

This weekend only, we have a flash challenge and giveaway to celebrate World Cardmaking Day. To enter create any card with a fun fold beyond the basic fold…a gateway fold, a z fold, or whatever fun way you think of to make your card just a little different from an ordinary card. Be sure to link back to us on your post, and enter your post in the rafflecopter directly below. If you do that by Sunday, October 8th at 11:59pm EDT, you’ll be entered to win $20 to the a2z Scrapbooking store. The Rafflecopter giveaway directly below has even more chances to win if you don’t have the time to create a card! Have fun, enjoy the creative weekend and stock up on some goodies to celebrate.

—>>> a Rafflecopter giveaway <<<—

Everyone who enters a card in this challenge this weekend will receive the free Hero Arts digital stamp, Spooky Labels. Perfect for Halloween treat bags, invitations or cards and scrapbook layouts—this set is exclusive to a2z Scrapbooking. We have the exclusive rights to all of the Hero Arts digital stamps, so if you want them, you can only find them here! Provide a way for us to reach you (through your blog or in the comments) and we’ll email the digital set to all our entrants. DT Member Donna used them for her classy treat bags.

If you’re looking for some tips on how to use our Hero Arts digital stamps, Kristina has a video post here to walk you through some of the basics. They’re fun to use and easy and you can size them however you want. Often, I don’t even manipulate the stamp, I just print and color and add to my cards…but there are a lot of ways to use them.

For more inspiration, check out DT member Leslie’s fun-fold card here  and Cindy’s fun-fold card here.  They’re amazing!

Happy World Cardmaking Day! Oh, and check back on Monday, October 9th, to see the September Challenge Winners!

CASE a DT Challenge – Wonderful Stamp Cut with Winged Friends

kymona case wm 1.jpg

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s over half way through the month of September!

I’m catching up of making some birthday cards for my stash and I thought I’d CASE Kymona’s card here from November 2016.

Kymona nov 16.jpg

I printed this dragonfly from the “Winged Friends” Hero Arts Digital set and cut him out with my Scan n Cut, then colored him with Spectrum Noir markers.  The wonderful is from Hero Arts Wonderful Stamp and Cut set.  I used a Gina K Designs card base – love the thickness and high quality of it!  I think this stamp and cut set is becoming one of my favorites ever because you can use it year round!  Please see my list of supplies linked below.

Hope you will join us in this month’s challenge – CASE a Designer!

Here’s another view of my card:

Casing a Designer with Hero Arts Feathers

Happy September all.  Delia again, with another take on using digital files, while also keeping it in the theme of “Case a Designer”.  Well, I have a few favourite designers, but at the very, very top is a most amazing lady called Ola Khomenok, she is from the Ukraine and her work is amazing, lots of layers, colours and just bits and pieces.  She uses loads of stencils initially when building up her page and then she makes what she does look sooo easy and it truly does my head in.  I watch her videos over and over again and am always left in awe of her talent.  I am trying very hard to emulate her style at the moment which I call “collage style”, but it really is just “Ola style” as she has a truly beautiful talent that I am actually very jelly of.  Aaaagh, but it is always good to have those that push us to be better.  I am not sure what my issue is in my difficulty in trying to emulate her style, but I think it has a lot to do with wastage.  I am frugal when it comes to using my large collection of flowers, chipboard, ephemera and bits and pieces as it all costs lots of money and I just don’t want to waste it – even though it isn’t really wasting it.  I know that Ola is on some major design teams and would be showered with product and deservedly so, but that is not reality for most of us and so I am very considered when I put my layouts together.  I also am just not yet as talented as she!

Jacobi-scrapbookpage-a2zsept1

So, here is my layout using the Hero Arts Feather Digital Cut file, which has the most awesome feather shape ever!  Clearly that was my hero in the layout, but I had lots of fun with this layout.  Firstly, I put the feathers through my Silhouette machine and then out came the Nuvo wax pastes in various colours and painted them and then I foiled them and sealed the foil off.  May I say how tedious foiling is…. those fiddly things and me are not the greatest of friends.  I truly did hide behind the door when patience was handed out.  So, I had a bit of fun with colouring and things, building up the layers, adding more and more bits and pieces, until all finished.

That’s all from me until another week passes when I shall return with another ‘Case a Designer’ layout, which will probably be all about Ola.  She is my current challenge and I am not giving up until I can learn her skill and put it in my repertoire.  So, be kind, be good and enjoy your inner creative.  Please visit me at my website www.jacobicreations.com or my blog at jacobicreations.blogspot.com.au

Wonderful Stamp & Cut with Holiday Ornaments Stamp & Cut

august 15 a2z.jpg

Hi there, it’s Angie here today sharing a some inspiration for our August “Bright and Beautiful” Challenge at a2z scrapbooking blog!

I used some new supplies for this card:  Hero Arts Wonderful Stamp and Cut, and Hero Arts Holiday Ornaments Stamp and Cut.  I love Hero Arts Stamp and Cut sets because they have a good price and are very versatile.  I stamped the ornaments in 3 bright colors of Gina K Designs ink, then added silver glitter pen to the ornament hooks at the top and for the strings, then I added Nuvo glitter drops to each ornament.  I die cut the wonderful word from white card stock (I first put Stick It Adhesive on the back), and then I put it on a black border so it would pop off the white card panel more.  Then, of course, I got a tiny spot of ink where I didn’t want it – so I pulled out my Tombow Mono Sand Eraser to the rescue!  I love that eraser and I use it a LOT!!!   The sentiment is from the “Wonderful” set, the 2 borders were cut with a die from Poppy Stamps and the corners at the top were rounded with a corner rounder.  Card stock used was from Gina K Designs.

Scroll down for links to all the products I used for my card.

Don’t forget to use code Angie15 when ordering these new stamp and cut sets! (spend $25 or more to use code)

Hero Arts Poetic Petals Digi Stamp Download makes for colouring fun.

Jacobi-a2zscrapbooking-august1

Hello again all, happy August and all those things.  So the theme for this month is Bright and Beautiful and so how could I possibly go past the Hero Arts Digi Stamp Download Poetic Petals.  It was made for this page.  I printed out the flowers at all different sizes and then got out the colouring implements and went to town.  My hands that have arthritis were not so impressed, but my brain had a good time, as well as the mental therapy that goes with colouring in.  Off goes my mind, happily thinking, dreaming, imagining and before you know it, I am surrounded by colourful flowers.  Now that I had them all, I had to chop them out.  I am not one for fussy cutting – it does my head in, but I am quite skilled with a scalpel from my graphic design days.  I remember once that I cut out an intricate spiders web by hand.  I got this done and then had to allow the hands to rest, so I amused myself with helping my daughter with assignments and then blitz cleaned the house.  No rest for the wicked.

So, I have all my elements and then the nice mailman brought me happy mail and in it some cutting dies from China as I do love to use the internet to shop.  So, I cut out some little seeded branches and painted them with Nuvo mousse pastes.  I then cut out these half moon doily shapes and used Nuvo wax pastes to colour these also, using two different tones.  I then dug through my ephemera and found some Kaisercraft pieces that fitted in nicely, plus some flowers from various sources.  I am a mad flower collector/purchaser.  I cannot ever have enough flowers.  Is that the case with all creatives?  Surely not just me.

I started with a lovely blank canvas and applied clear gesso as I knew it was about to get soaked.  First of all I stencilled the background as Lindy’s Magical Shakers work better with some texture to get into, plus I was going to do a completely different layout to what eventuated.  You can still see a teeny, tiny bit … hehe.  Out come Lindy’s Magical Shakers and I used dark blue, purple, orange, yellow and red, just little sprinkles all over.  I have pictures below so you can see how it goes from zero to hero in seconds.  Gosh, they are so much fun to play with.  I love that I used no green and yet, there it is.  Groovy baby.  If you have not tried them yet, you simply must, they really are quite magical.

After all that dried, it looked so awesome it was a shame to cover it up, but I had all these amazing and colourful flowers to use and use them I did.  I laid them out to look like a bouquet of sorts surrounding the photo area, most sit flat with some raised up a little.  At this stage the layout was looking very flat and I prefer layouts with layers and height, so I mounted the photo up a little higher on cardboard, put a yellow frame around it and then used a circular cut die embossed with silver embossing powder over the top, situated so the photo can easily be slipped in.  I then snipped my half moon doilies so that I could bend them and get some dimension happening and then decorated with some ephemera and flowers.  The main word “smile” has been made to look a little 3-d by using Glossy accents 3-d gel which gives it a lovely raised, high gloss finish.  A really lovely product.

Below are some close ups of the final layout, with a little bit of silver sparkle to finish it off.  I think it is pretty enjoyable to use digi stamps, they just add a new dimension to layouts, rather than using the normal ephemera.  Enjoy your creativity, to see more of my work, please go to my website at www.jacobicreations.com or follow my blog at jacobicreations@blogspot.com.au.

Hello everyone,

It’s Donna and the challenge for this month is “Anything Goes”.  Have you joined in on the fun?  I hope you will take time, there is still time.  You can link your project here. Please be sure that your project contains at least ONE main HERO ART Product as the focal element!

I love challenges that are “anything goes”, you can test your imagination! As much as I enjoy making Christmas Cards and Coffee Cards, I love making Valentine Cards. I love the colors of pink, red and black together. Here is my card for inspiration:

romeo-and-juliet

Closer look at the image:romeo-and-juliet2

I am using the new Hero Arts Romeo and Juliet set.  Here is how I put my card together:

  1.  My card is an A2 card, and the second layer measures 4 x 5 1/4,
  2. I embossed the second layer with the rose embossing folder,
  3. I die cut my hearts using the new Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity dies, I took the second and third largest heart dies and centered them on some black card stock and die cut them out,
  4. I then die cut the third heart again with the light pink paper,
  5. I then stamped the girl and boy image with Hero Arts intense black ink,
  6. I took a green and red marker and colored the rose stamp and placed it in the boy’s hand to look like he was giving it to his girlfriend,
  7. I used my tape runner and added the black and pink hearts to my card,
  8. I then stamped the sentiment from the Hero Arts Floral Heart Stamp and Cut with versamark and used the Hero Arts white embossing powder and heat set it,
  9. I die cut the sentiment and used foam tape to pop the image on my card,
  10. I finished my card by adding some Hero Arts Sparkle Gem hearts to my card.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Esty store. You can also use the code “Donna15” to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

a2z Scrapbooking has a Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages. Follow us on these different social media outlets so you won’t miss out on any of the promotions!
