Paper Layering Santa Face in Miniature

Hi, friends, Chark here today to show you a little project I made with the Hero Arts Paper Layering Santa Face die. I’ve made cards and tags with the die but then I wondered if it work for shrink plastic. So I gave it a shot! Here’s the die, it measures about 4 inches.

I die cut the Santa face from the plastic and got out the heat gun. I colored him with Prismacolor pencils and then tried it! Here it is in shrink form.

And here he is next to the regular size paper die cut.

He’s so cute! I used my Crop-o-dile large hole to punch a hole before shrinking. The hole is the right size for string or for a jump ring. Don’t punch your hole too close to the top and keep in mind a regular sized hole punch will work just as well.

I like how dimensional the beard came out (you can see it in the close-up above). I didn’t color the shrink plastic too neatly, since I knew heating it would make that unnecessary. I did use a white pencil for the beard and hat. If you leave it uncolored, it will have a different sheen than the pencil-colored parts.

Since I had the plastic out, I also did some stamping and shrinking. I used the small stamps and they turned out so tiny! I knew they would, but I had to try it. I hole-punched the bikes and I think I’ll put in a jump ring and make earrings from them. I might use the coffee cup for a shaker card or to put in a little critter’s hand on a card. Not sure yet.

Oh, and before I go, I gotta show you the Santa that did NOT turn out…I always do extras when heating shrink film, because sometimes it goes sideways on you. This Santa separated at the mustache and got stuck on itself in the beard. Poor Santa. The good Santa on the left was the first try and I guess I should’ve stopped there!
