I made this little scene for the Winter Wonderland challenge at a2z Scrapbooking.  While this is actually a Christmas set,  you can use the little houses any time of year! I can picture the roaring fire, everyone hanging around drinking hot cocoa {real hot cocoa, not the mix kind}, all snug in their flannel pajamas.  Works for me! A perfect restful scene after the hectic holidays!

Very simply done, but I like the angular lines on the background and the trees.

New Years Card w/ Hero Arts Vintage Christmas

Welcome friends & Happy Holidays! I hope you’ve had a great weekend and are maybe even enjoying a little time off work today! I wanted to stretch my holiday stamps and get a little more use, by moving them down to the next holiday! The Vintage Christmas set is versatile enough to be used all winter long. Just pair it with some different sentiments, like I did here. I’ve mixed a Hero Arts Digitial Stamp “Say it in Peieces” and Concord & 9th “Sophisticated Script” to make my own sentiment.

So here’s what I did for this card:

• In photoshop I created an a2 sized blank template, arrange my sentiment pieces where I wanted and printed onto Neenah cardstock
• Next I stamped and clear embossed “New Year”
• Lastly I stamped assorted images from the set, to create a little wintery scene
• To finished, I trimmed the card down by .25″ around and mounted it onto some glitter cardstock before adhering to a white card base

And that’s it! Super easy and a great way to get more use out of holiday stamps! You could easily swap the sentiments for “Thinking of You” or “Missing You” or even a winter birthday.

Kelly’s S’mitten With You

This month’s challenge over at a2zscrapbooking blog is:   “Layer It” Challenge!

There’s still a little time left till the linky closes at the end of the month, so I hope you can play along!!!

For this card I used a stencil to create layers and stamped the sentiment, gloves and hat in Hero Arts Black ink and colored them with my alcohol markers.

  I used Hero Arts DC193 Kelly’s S’Mitten Stamp and Cut set along with the Hero Arts SA078 Forest Scene Stencil  to make this quick and easy card.  I sprayed the whole card with shimmer spray – hard to see it in the pictures!  Lastly I added a tiny red bow!

Easy Tags and Easy Cards

I know I have to start early on my holiday tags and cards.  I give away 12 to 16 bags of cards for the holidays to staff I work with and friends I just want to show I care.  That’s a lot of cards, so I save almost everything I make to give away as gifts.  Now I have to make the cards and tags that go with the gifts.  I found a new Hero Arts set, Winter Scene, that makes my tags and cards fun.  I started with patterned papers to see how those turned out.  They were fun and I made about 15 so I have my tags all ready to go for my staff at work.

You can see that you can even use the patterned paper as part of the design.  I also have the matching jar die, Hero Arts Frame Cuts.  You can see how these would be quick and easy. I used Hero Arts Shadow Ink Wet Cement for the pebbles and land on the tags.

WATCH OUT: CARDS BELOW!

Now for some cards.  Where I used black ink on my patterned paper for my elements, on the white paper, you can mix up your colors.  Just stamping the large jar in the set and placing your elements from the set inside creates a fun and easy card.  I used the Hero Arts Shadow Ink, soft sky, for the ground element as well as the snow.  I really like the way these turned out.

Supplies for Tags: Hero Arts Frame Cuts Jar Frame Cut, Hero Arts Winter Scene, Hero Arts Shadow Ink, Wet Cement Mid-Tone, Memento Rich Cocoa, Memento Tuxedo Black Hero Arts Forever Green and Green Hills.  On the patterned tags, I used Memento Tuxedo Black only.  They look more like silhouettes and have a kind of old fashioned feel to them.

Close-up of two cards below. You can see the snow and ground.  I know the grounds blue, but it seems to fit for me.  I used Memento Rich Cocoa to stamp the deer, Memento Tuxedo Black, Hero Arts Shadow Ink, soft sky, for the sentiment, Hero Arts Forever Green and Green Hills for the trees below.

I used Memento Tuxedo Black to stamp the jar and sentiment, Hero Arts Soft Sky Hero Arts Shadow Ink and Hero Arts Forever Green, Green Hills for the trees and Red Royal for the house.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello everyone. Greta here hoping to inspire you to enter our February embossing challenge. The winner gets a $25 gift certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking store!  My card also shows how a Christmas stamp set can be used for a non-holiday card & it’s available in the SALE SECTION for 50% OFF!  The effect from heat embossing hooked me on stamping years ago & dry embossing is actually why I bought my Big Shot.  I used both techniques today.

This is the card front after embossing it with the stencil.  I actually used the debossed side which is a bit less texture.  You can see my first card made with embossing a stencil HERE.

The branch is stamped 3 times & heat embossed in white.  I sponged on some Wet Cement ink to make the white pop a little more.  After stamping the sentiment I added white paint to the edges & used it for some splotches.

To make my card more cheerful, I covered the branches with Stickles.

The panel could have been mounted with foam tape, but I decided just to glue it flat since there was texture from the dry embossing.  No extra postage needed for this card that I’ll be sending to a friend dealing with wintry weather.  Remember, you can use GRETA15 to get 15% off a minimum $25 purchase in the a2z store.

Holiday card with non-holiday stamps

Hi everyone! It’s Ria here today.

I’m excited to share a holiday card project using non-holiday stamp set 🙂

I don’t have a large collection of holiday theme stamp sets and its nice to do Christmas cards using stamp sets that you may already have that are non-Christmas-sy in theme. A good way to stretch your stamps isn’t it?

Here I used the Small Things stamp set, a general hello, everyday stamp set type. I used the fox as my main focal point and used more traditional Christmas color like red and greens. Here, I used buttons to create the Christmas holly.

I also add texture in the green tag paper by stamping the Woodgrain background stamp.

There are other small elements that I used like these stamped circles, again keeping my red and green colors for consistency.

For the background, I created my own by stamping the circle with white ink, it looks like snow using the white ink pad 🙂

Mr Snowman card

Hi there! Its Ria here today.

I’m sharing today a fun easy-to-reproduce holiday card using the Frost Wishes stamp set from Hero Arts. The set is one of the new products from HA Handmade from Christmas 2014 release. It has a coordinating die, making cutting a breeze.

I used three different shade of greens, stamping them with the Brush strokes stamp set. There are a lot of other brush strokes in the set that you can use  so try them out too when doing your own version of the card.

I colored the snowman’s nose with marker and added Wink of Stella  glitter pen for some shine.

For the colors, you can also try another ombre color like the blues or reds. The white snowman will stand out on these color combinations too.
