Hero Arts Everything Smiles Color Swatches

Hello,

Cindy here to share a few fun projects, color swatches, skinny bookmarks and lunch box message tags.  I am inspired by this month’s challenge – Anything But a Card.

It’s been a while since I last documented my inks.  So I decided it’s time, but instead of using one stamp, I used Hero Arts Everything Smile Stamp and Cut set.

The small stamps are perfect for the ombre ink pads, they fit onto the different strip of ink.  Here’s look of all the swatches before I put them in the book ring.

For my next project, I made skinny bookmarks?  Okay I know lots of people are reading on-line, but still books are all around us, and I’d bet some of you want book mark your favorite chapter!  Also I personally like to bookmark my ‘go-to’ recipes in my cook books and magazines.  (Yes I admit I have a tough time parting with my magazines).  Alright, enough babbling, here they are:

Btw why skinny bookmarks you ask?  Well it’s less likely to fall out (in my opinion)!!  The two on the left I stamped in black and colored with watercolors and coloring pencils.  The last one I stamped in color and left it CAS.

Do you see the green light bulb?  Yeah my paper moved and the second stamping is off set.  So I added hand drew some lines and wrote the word ‘ding’ to made it a ‘light bulb’ moment.   😀

For the last project I made some small lunch box message tags.  The larger speech bubble die from the Everything Smile Stamp and Cut set (I think) is perfect for this purpose.  Imagine what a delight to find a speech bubble tag that says ‘Enjoy’ in your lunch box/bag?!  🙂

I added a little special touch on each of the tags, the apples got glittered cheeks.  The cup cake frosting is coated with Sprinkle Sugar and extra sprinkle of diamond glitter powder.  The heart is coated with glossy accept so it’s more ‘puffy’ (if you would).

You made all the way to the end!!  Thanks for reading this far.  I hope I’ve inspired you to pick up your favorite stamps and join in our June challenge.  Scroll down to get the details.  Happy crafting!!

Guest Designer June 2019

Hello everyone,

I am so excited to introduce our June Guest Designer, Amy Tsuruta.  Here’s a brief bio of Amy.

I started ‘seriously’ crafting in 2003. For some reason I signed up to be my son’s Co-op Preschool Scrapbook Coordinator. At that point, I hadn’t even scrapbooked yet. I’m happy to say that we still have that scrapbook. I started my Splitcoaststampers Gallery in 2005. I remember seeing blogs and became curious about them. I started mine in 2007. I didn’t start my IG account until April 2015. I was holding out because I didn’t think I could swing the time commitment. I still feel that way but try my best in keeping up with everything. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this awesome papercrafting community.

Now let’s hear from her:

Hi everyone!  It’s Amy Tsuruta and I’m thrilled to be guesting today for the a2zscrapbooking Monthly Challenge – Anything but a Card.

I designed a tag duo especially for today.

My first tag features the Cardinal Stamp & Cut.  I used the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies.  The stamped woodgrain is an older Hero Arts wood mount background stamp.

I recently bought a top and matching cardi that had their tags attached by the pins I used today on my tags.   The cardinal sentiment has been heat embossed in white.
My second circular tag features the Alpaca Stamp & Cut.  I loaded this one up with a bunch of images.

I can’t wait to see how you’re inspired by this month’s challenge!

A big shout out to a2zscrapbooking for the invite!

Aren’t these tags darling?  Thank you so much for taking the time to Guest Design for us Amy!!

Hero Arts Tags and Destinations

I’ve always liked the Hero Arts Tags dies.  You can let your creative juices go.  If you’ve never seen the National parks in the U.S., you really should.  My family traveled in the summer to different natural places.  Memories of the colored pools and geysers in Yellowstone will last the rest of my life.  Incredible views and experiences.  I used some Oxide distress inks here with a sentiment and a couple Destination wood stamps.

Have fun creating.

Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China oxide inks spritzed with water.  Hero Arts sentiment out of stock.

Wilted Violet, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Oxide Inks spritzed with a homemade colored water.  Two very old cheap moon and clouds stamps were added.        Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

Iced Spruce, Cracked Pistachio, Fired Brick and Fossilized Amber Oxide Inks were spritzed with water and an 1992 Stampin Up postmark added.  Buffalo colored with Copic marker W3 and trees colored with G03.  Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

My samples are at A Bit of This and That.

Hero Arts Weather – A Fave

If you like to use Cut Files, have fun with the Weather, I say.

I always loved seeing umbrellas in the old English movies, tons of umbrellas keeping off the rain.  Now I love the colors that you can purchase and all sizes.   Isn’t the saying “April Showers Bring May Flowers?”  And you can’t do anything about whether it rains or snows, so why not appreciate it.  That’s why I made a card with umbrellas over a map.

Color Layering Peacock Tags

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to play with the Color Layering Peacock stamp set. It’s just so pretty and you can see some beautiful work here on this blog this month with the stamp set. When I saw it, I couldn’t resist trying some foiling with the stamp.

IMG_3419

On this first tag, I used the single peacock feather stamp to make his tail. I stamped his body (just one stamp, not layered) in glue and added gold foil. Then I used rainbow foil on several feathers. The background is the Wallpaper Pattern cling stamp in the Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick. I didn’t heat or use water, just stamped with the ink. It’s a lot crisper than the Distress Inks and stamps beautifully.

IMG_3430

On the second tag, I used the matching Peacock Ink cubes to stamp the Peacock and then trimmed it out. On the tag itself, I painted with Dylusions Vibrant Turquoise acrylic paint, let it dry, and then used glue to dab through the stencil. Once that dried, I added the foils. You need a glue that stays tacky after drying, like Duo, to use the foils. You just rub them on the sticky (but dry) glue. You won’t get perfect coverage or stamping/stenciling, but it is so pretty!

CELEBRATE TAG WITH HERO ARTS

CELEBRATE TAG WITH HERO ARTS

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a Celebrate tag with Hero Arts that I made to decorate a pre-made box that I found in a craft store. I usually buy these boxes to decorate them and package little presents.

CELEBRATE TAG WITH HERO ARTS

During these days  all of us are in crunch time with the holidays and gifts etc. If you are like me, these boxes are our salvation because we only need to use a few elements to create beautiful packages.

For this box I used a Celebrate Tag Stamp & Cut by Lia from Hero Arts. I cut the tag using metallic silver card stock and then I stamped the Celebrate sentiment with Versamark and Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder.

This beautiful tag doesn’t require a lot of decorations, so I just added a touch of color with a tiny bow that I made with green baker’s twine and pasted over a belt that I made to put around of the box.

You can find many sets like this –Stamp & Cut – in the a2z scrapbooking store where you can enjoy 15% off with my discount code MARTHA15. If there’s every something you want that you don’t see in store, use the custom order button.

I hope you too will join us in the challenge this month. You have until month end to submit your project for a chance at a $25 Gift Card.

Hero Arts Poinsettia & Happy Holly Days

SURPRISE…I have another tag for you, BUT I did step out and make something different this time – you know, to go along with the theme ‘ANYTHING BUT A CARD‘! 😀 Yay me!

Have you joined our challenge this month; we’d love to see your creations, you can link them up HERE. And don’t forget, you can receive 15% off your order of $25+ at our Etsy shop; just use code: MicheleG15! And if there is something not available, they do special orders, just ask!

So let’s go with the non-tag creation first! I stamped the huge Poinsettia stamp (looks like it might be out of stock, but the dies are available, just ask for a special order if you’d like the stamp) on some artist grade translucent shrink plastic in Hero Arts Intense Black; I knew that wasn’t going to dry for quite some, if at all, so I added some Hero Arts Sparkle embossing powder and hand cut the images after punching a hole in the shrink plastic. I used my heat gun to shrink the images and the embossing powder really made them sparkle. I wasn’t worried about them being perfectly flat, I like the dimension just as they are.

Once cool, I painted on some Lindy’s magicals – the colors are really a hot pink and lime green but I barely added any water so the colors are a bit stronger and nope, I didn’t worry that they weren’t perfect, just wanted to have fun! I tied on some small jingle bells and silver twine to finish them off; they will be a perfect touch to a few of our Christmas gifts! I tied one on to a gift for our son’s girlfriend, just a cute little touch!

And yes, I created ANOTHER Hero Arts Happy Holly Days tag, I can’t help it, I am seriously in love with these images! I had bought a small gift set from Bath & Body Works for my personal trainer and kept it simple by adding the tag as the finishing touch.

Tree Tag

a2z monthly challenge

Hello friends! Monica here stopping in to share a little tag I made for our December challenge.

tree-tag

I die cut my tree out of some scrap green paper I had  lying on my desk. I also used some scrap pieces of cardstock for the embellishments. Once everything was adhered to the tag I added some Nuvo for the accents.

OK; now that we have the details out-of-the-way, let’s get down to creating. I stamped and die cut SO MANY IMAGES for these tags, thankfully I have some extras left over that are going to end up on another large project I am doing. 😉

Prepare for photo overload – you’ve been warned.

If you follow me on Instagram (Whimsical_Creations) you can see all the pieces I created as well as the Nuvo Mousse in action. 😀 So I stamped a ton of images and embossed with Hero Arts white (another fave) and colored with Zig Clean Clear brushes. I then die cut all my images as well as a base tag from water color paper.

I applied embossing paste through a stencil to parts of the tags and once dry smooshed on some distress ink. For one tag, I added some Nuvo Mousse to the distress ink and it really changed it to a teal color – lots of sparkle – but once it was dry, I added more of the distress ink without the mousse. Once completely dry, I adhered the various images, embossed some sentiments on black paper, sprayed with shimmer mist and adhered with dimensionals. I die cut a blank tag and adhered to the back for a clean place to write your message. I finished it off with some misc. ribbon and twine from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll take the time to join our challenge and while you’re at it, shop our Etsy store for some holiday cheer for yourself!

Vintage Christmas Wishes for Guests

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to share some place cards I’ve made for the big holiday dinner. I’m using the Hero Arts Vintage Christmas Wishes stamps and they are so sweet and classic, they’re perfect for the fall and winter holidays.

img_2633

I’ve just written the names here, but of course stickers or some letter stamps would work too. I’m trying to decide if I should adhere these to a candy treat or just lay them on the plates. Either way, I think they’ll go great with the dinnerware.

img_2633

The extra little deer-in-the-woods tag will have to find his way into the table decor. I could glue him to the front of a big candle, attach him to a vase or add him to one of the bowls to decorate it. Hmmm…I still have some time to decide, but I’m thinking a vase that’s tied with some greenery and twine and filled with flowers might be just the thing.

Do you like to use your stamps for more than cards and scrapbooks? It’s one of my favorite things to do and this stamp isn’t just for Christmas. You could use the trees to create a background for a lot of different stamps. And if you use some colorful markers to make dots, you could create a fall scene easily. The script would be fabulous in some art journaling or on any kind of vintage cards.
