Color Layering Butterfly Tag Card

Hello there,

My May challenge inspired card today is very simple, a tag card.  Sometimes things don’t need to be complicated.  I cut two tags measuring 3 by 6 inches using white card stock.  One I left blank, and crease about 5/8 of an inch down from top.  This is the back panel.

On the front panel I stamped Scribble Bold Prints with Soft Granite, and the sentiment in black.  I added some Washi tapes and a pattern paper strip.  On a separate piece of white card stock I stamped the butterfly using the MISTI tool with Spun Sugar, Crimson, Vintage Photo and Jet Black.  Then I hand cut the butterfly and adhered to the tag front.  Then the front panel is glued to the back, hole punched and tied bow with twine.  Voila!!

Shaped card Mermaid Kisses

Hi everybody,

My mermaid lives in a giant oyster!!  I had a lot of fun making this shape card and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do making it.  Let’s check it out.

The oyster is a stamp from the Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses Clear Stamp set, but it’s not big.  So I stamped it on a piece of white scrap paper, scanned it, resized and printed on watercolor paper.   I learnt this technique from the Hero Arts Blog many years ago.  It really is a great way to stretch your stamp.  Below is a photo showing the original stamping (small image on the left), and the enlargement.

For some reason the printing was not very dark like the part of the pearl; I suspect that it’s due to the enlargement.  So I darken the image with a waterproof black pen before I watercolored it, then it’s hand cut.  I used the shape to trace and hand cut the back panel, creased at the left, and glued the two together.  I stamped and watercolored the mermaid, the corals, and star fish, and die cut using the matching cutting dies.  And I adhere them onto my card.  And embellished with an art pearl.  To add shine to I coated some area with Wink of Stella.  Here’s a close up.

Hero Arts Digital Butterfly shaped card

Hi there.  It’s my turn to share with you again this month.     I have a shaped card made with a digital image…. it’s so easy to enlarge them and then to cut them out to make a card…

Digital Butterfly

Here I have taken one of the pre-coloured images from the Flutterbies digital kit  available in our A2Z Scrapbooking store and supersized it.   I cut it out twice and glued it together on one side.   I took the pre-coloured version and enhanced it with some Prismacolor Pencils.  Nice and easy and such fun to make a shaped card.

Starry Birthday with Hero Arts

Aloha and happy Thursday friends!  Continuing with this month’s theme…Take Shape… I decided to get out my Lawn Fawn Puffy Star Stackables die to make a star shaped birthday card!  I love the scripty font in Hero Arts Birthday Messages .

I started by taking some white cardstock and folding it to create my star shaped card…

HAA2ZStarShaped

Then I die cut another star to stamp on and adhere to the front panel…

Birthday Star with Hero Arts

The sentiment was gold heat embossed using Hero Arts Gold Embossing powder and I used the Hero Arts Neon Ombre in Neon Chartreuse to Blue for a festive and summery look on the edges to say “enjoy your day!”  I kept it simple, but may add some bling or sequins, depending on the recipient.

Mahalo for stopping by!

Thinking of you Poppy with Hero Arts

Welcome.  Dawn here to share my shaped card for this month’s challenge.  I have used my favourite Poppy stamp and die for this card.

My card base is made with by die cutting two Spellbinders dies and glued them together at the top.   I trimmed a smidgen off the bottom curve on the back to allow the card to stand up.    I used some Patterned paper for my inner panel.   On a separate piece of card stock I stamped the poppy in Hero Arts inks – Soft Cantaloupe and Punch Chalk (discontinued) and Distress Ink – Aged Mahogany.  The stem is in Emerald  Green.   I used the matching dies to cut out the Poppy.

I did have a little mishap when stamping the sentiment…. as I went to pull the sentiment off the backing sheet (it was the first time I used this sentiment) and I tore it!

With much butting and wiggling, to say the least, I managed to get the sentiment stamped.

It’s Monday

Good Monday everyone,

If you’re looking for the Design Team Call Summer 2015 post, please click Here or scroll down.

I am back today to share another card with a New Beginning theme. I use the Stamp & Cut Congrats set with and older stamp. I like to think that I am giving my older stamp a new beginning! Insert chuckles here!!! 😀  I also try a new fold today, not top fold, not side fold, I’d like to call it a bottom fold! Shall we take a look?!

a2z_dtp_2015jun22

My process:

  • Trim white card base into folder shape.
  • Trim designer paper into same shape (for the card front), distress with Old Paper and Vintage Photo.
  • Stamp old fashion typewriter (with the greeting masked so the paper is blank) on white CS with Walnut Stain, lightly colour to add shadow with colouring pencil. Stamp “you did it” with black dye ink. Cut out.
  • Stamp “Congrats” on designer paper with black dye ink, heat embossed with clear EP.
  • Stamp the rest of the sentiment on white paper strips with black dye ink, distress with Vintage Photo.
  • Adhere all pieces to card as shown. Embellish with Amber gems.

If you look at the Stamp and Cut Congrats set closely, you would realize that the word “promotion” is not there. But I want to use the same font, so I inked up different parts of the other words to build it. Cool huh?! But fret not, you don’t have to do this, there is other Stamp and Cut sets at the a2z store for different occasions. Like the Stamp and Cut Happy, Stamp and Cut Hello, and Stamp and Cut Thanks just to name a few, so go ahead and take a look. Feel free to use promote code Cindy15 to get 15% off any purchase of $25 before shipping.

There’s still plenty time to play June’s challenge – New Beginnings (babies, graduations, weddings, new home…etc). By entering you have a chance to win a $25 gift card to the store. If you are not sure about the rules, check Here.

Remember that we are also on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. If you haven’t done so already, please follow us on these different social media outlets. You don’t want to miss out on any fun promotions!
