A Hero Arts Retailer

Casing Ola again with Hero Arts Pretty Blossoms Digital Download

Hi again, I hope your September is going well. I am still in my infatuated with Ola Khomenok stage and so once again I chose another of her fabulous designs.  This is a link to her video tutorial.IMG_8501

So, here is my layout in response to our current ‘Case a Designer’ challenge this month.

The papers are some new ones I just got under the DCWV brand that have some lovely foiled copper pages throughout which allows you to make some beautiful embellishments to use in your design.  I wanted lots of different types of embellishments in my layout to make up for some of the amazing elements Ola has to use.  My main frame is from Dusty Attic which I embossed using green, pink and copper embossing powders.  My use of the Pretty Blossoms Digital Download played a large part in my use of ephemera, I printed them out on white card and then painted them roughly with some cheap glitter paints as I only wanted the colour to be subtle, cut them out and then added pearls and sequins or whatever into the middles to make them have a little bit of bling.  I do love my bling.

There are quite a few die cut pieces, but these are from dies collected over time and removed from their packaging, but obviously you just use whatever you have in  your stash and bring it all together, building up layers and then finishing up with a few more bits of shiny stuff.  All done, seems so simple, but it honestly takes me about 3 days to do a layout like this.  I am quite sure that I spend the most time just staring it and wondering what to do, what to use, trying to remember everything I have in my stashes. But, if you watch Ola, she just throws it all together, so quickly and effortlessly.  Clearly I need to practice more …. ohhh, if I have toooooo.  Like, my pleasure, hehehe.  I have done a few of these layouts now, to see more of them, please visit Jacobi Creations or my Jacobi Creations Blog.

That’s all for now, have a lovely week.  Delia

Grateful Paper Layering Hummingbird

gratefull paper layering hummingbird wm main.jpg

Hi there, it’s Angie here with a card featuring the new Hero Arts Paper Layering Hummingbird die.  I love hummingbirds so when I saw this new die set, I just had to get it and I’m so glad I did!

This card was quick to make, just stamped some flowers and leaves from the Hero Arts “Let Love Grow” set (in Distress Oxide inks) and cut a strip of black to mount the strip on.  I die cut the bird and used the same inks on him, added some black with a black marker, and added the Hero Arts “Grateful” rubber stamp sentiment on a scalloped oval die cut that was inked with the same inks.  I put it all on the card base and was done in no time!

Hope you will take the time to enter the 2 ways to win a $25 gift card to the a2z scrapbooking store!  Here’s the scoop:

Color Layering Butterflies ~ Hero Arts

It’s an ANYTHING GOES month here at a2z Scrapbooking. Sometimes that makes things easier and sometimes I just like a bit of direction with a specific challenge – what about you?

I started by stamping the butterfly “inners”. I decided that I would have 3 butterflies on the left, with slightly different orientations.

Color Layering Butterfly

Then, I added the second layer to the butterfly by aligning the stamp over the initial stamped “inners,” trying to keep an even border around.

This is what the card looked after this second step.

Next, added the butterflies body and antenna. When stamping, I tried to keep the “head” slightly above the body.

It felt that I need to add something more, so I cut out masks from yellow post-it notes and covered the stamped butterflies.

Oops – I forgot to take a picture of the next steps. I added the sentiment from the same stamp set. With ink blending tools and tumbled glass distress ink, I added color. The masks were required so that the broken china color didn’t cover the stamped butterflies. I removed the masks and then added a bit of broken china on the edge of an acrylic block. With a water brush, I flung ink splots (is that a real word?) over the card in a random fashion.

Hope you’ll join us at our  July – Anything Goes Challenge

You’ll need to use a Hero Arts stamp, stencil, die or digi as your main element and you could win a $25 gift code to the a2z Scrapbooking store.

How would you like a 15% discount off of purchases of more than $25 at a2z Scrapbooking store? Use my code Sue15 for that 15% discount.

Hero Arts Layering Goldfish in Pink

Hello there,

I am back sharing a CAS one layer card today.

My process:

  • Ink the detail stamp of the larger fish from the Hero Arts Color Layering Goldfish set using the darkest shade of the Hero Arts Ombre Ink – Light to Dark Purple on white card base.
  • Ink the solid stamp of the matching fish using the Hero Arts Ombre Ink – Pink to Red.
  • Stamp the head detail with Memento Dye Ink – Tuxedo Black.
  • Mask fish.  Use a scallope border scrap, place it at half inch interval and sponge Ranger Distress Ink – Broken China and Chipped Sapphire alternately to create the waves.
  • Stamp bubble in Chipped Sapphire.
  • Stamp sentiment once in Broken China, then in Chipped Sapphire a little offset to create shadow.
  • Use a black glaze pen to intensify the fish eye.
  • Add Stickles – Diamond onto the fish body and Sprinkled Sugar on the bubbles.

a2z’s May challenge theme is CAS.  Just click the Current Montly Challenge tab on top of the page or this link to get all the details.  Not sure about the rules?  No problem, click the Challenge Rules tab or this link.   You like the supplies I used on my card, they are available in the store.  Use code Cindy15 at check out to obtain15% off your purchase of $25 or more (excluding shipping).

I’ll Stand by You

Hi stampers!

Ilina’s here today with a  clean and simple card for you to play along this month’s challenge, which is (obviously) Clean and Simple.

I used the new Hero Arts set Color Layering Flamingo (which is not in the A2z scrapbooking store- link at the bottom of this post) and it has a coordinating die, too which I am not using for my card.

I have a little video (about 6 min) showing you how I made today’s card. I used the MISTI tool for positioning of the layers of the flamingo.

Don’t forget to use the code “Ilina15” to get 15% off your purchase of $25  or more in the A2zscrapbooking store on Etsy.

Hope I inspired you to create something today, as well join this month’s challenge.

All You Need Is Love…

….Ba Da Da Da Da

Love Stamp and Cut
Hi Friends! Kristina Here.
I hope you had an amazing Christmas Day! It certainly flew by too fast.
And now begins the next card makers rush, Valentine’s Day!
Believe it or not Black is one of my favorite valentines colors in the way it pairs great with Pink and Red.

When I got this stamp set my first idea was to make a background from all the heart stamps included with the set, so I decided to do a emboss resist by stamping and white embossing the heart images to cover the background, followed by a watercolor wash & let dry. For my sentiment I cut out 3 layers of “Love” in black card stock which I layered together and mounted on top of and off center with a light pink colored card stock for a 3D effect. I stamped “Sending You” directly onto my watercolor background and “Happy Valentines Day” onto some glitter paper for a little bit of a pop! I finished the card with some die cut hearts topped with glossy accents.

NOTE: The Love Stamp and Cut set used here is sold out nearly everywhere. It will be back in stock at the a2z scrapbooking store soon though. Use the “Request Custom Order” button in the shop to let them know you’d like one.

We would love for you to join us in our monthly challenges. New challenges are posted on the 1st of the month, this month is Dimension {Make It Pop} and entering can land you a $25 gift card to the store! We’re also on on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!

I’m glad you could join me today. How about a shopping discount? Use code KRISTINA15 in the store for 15% off your total purchase {minimum $25 purchase applies} No expiration, use it now & later!

Selective Stenciling with Embossing Paste

Hello Card by Kristina

Hi Friends, Kristina here with some more embossing paste play for this months challenge!
I wanted to go a little outside the box, so instead of using a whole stencil, I selectively stenciled certain parts!

A whole lotta masking tape went into the making of this card!

First I made a washi tape border down the left side of the card and attached a strip of Vellum.
Next I used Micropore tape to mask off the area’s of the stencil {one at a time} I wanted to use and
rubbed on embossing paste died with Hero Arts dye inks, letting each dry before adding the next image.

To finish the card I added a simple sentiment and a few sequins!

Now, You still have a few more days to enter our Texture/Embossing Paste challenge for August
Your entry could win you a $25 gift certificate to the store!

If you’re interested in the supplies used in this card, I’ve linked them below AND how about 15% off?

CAS Watercolor Card ‘Thinking of You’

Hero Arts Yes Stamp and Cuts
Hi Everyone! Kristina here today with a super quick and simple watercolor card!
I started with a piece of ranger watercolor paper. Working on the smooth side (tape down) I wet the entire paper very generously. Next I used my prima watercolor pencils to add a very soft watercolor background. I pulled color directly off the pencil with my paint brush and painted it onto the paper. I heat set to dry, then added some random water droplets, which I sopped up with a dry cloth and heat set again. My stamped images are from the same set. Hero Arts “Yes” Stamp and Cuts. One stamped directly onto the water color paper, and the other cut out and popped up with foam tape.

There are a few days left to enter our CAS challenge for the month of July!
$25 gift card to the store is up for grabs!!

You can find all of your favorite Hero Arts product in the a2z scrapbooking store AND enjoy 15%
off your $25+ purchase anytime using my discount code KRISTINA15
(they have the new christmas stuff in stock)

Congrats Baby with Hero Arts

Congrats Card Hero Arts
Here everyone, Kristina here!
Super clean and simple card today! Put the whole thing together in less than 10 minutes.

I started with a blush note card (a2) and a white piece of card stock trimmed to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
Using a stencil and blending tool I “pounced” a little ink onto my white layer
Next I covered one side of a piece of fun foam with ‘stick it’ adhesive and then die cut my sentiment
stamped the rest of the sentiment with the same bubblegum ink used on the stenciling.
Added a few sequins and some wink of stella to the greeting and viola!

I hope this inspires you to join us in this months Clean and Simple challenge for your chance at a $25 gift card to the store!
