Hero Arts Asian Flower Pattern Stencil One Layer Card

Hi! It’s Sue. Have you made any resolutions for 2018. Have you broken them already? LOL! I haven’t made a resolution, per se. However, I know that I’m a more patient person when I set aside time for crafting. So that’s my goal, to spend more time crafting than say, playing Facebook games. So far, I’m doing OK. I think that I’ve finally put away my Christmas stamps and it’s time to work on other projects. I have a one-layer card for you.

I masked off a 1.75″ area on my card base with post-it tape. Using the Hero Arts Asian Flower Pattern stencil, I added colour with distress inks (peacock feathers, cracked pistachio, mermaid lagoon) with ink blending tools.  I carefully removed the post-it tape. I added the sentiment using Hero Arts Tide Pool ink. There you have it – a nice simple clean and simple one layer card.

Diamond Stencil in White

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to share a card that was inspired by a DT member at A Blog Named Hero.  

This is Tracy’s card…I love white and kraft together and the bold sentiment really stands out against her background.

So I took some kraft paper, printed out the sentiment from A Natural Christmas digital kit and stenciled (instead of stamped like Tracy) with the Diamond Stencil and White Unicorn ink around the sentiment. Next I added some red glitter hearts with Xmas Red Stickles and a couple gold dots with Gold Stickles.

Finally, I used my white Uniball to add some detail to the sentiment and mounted it on Navy cardstock. It was a fast and easy card to make. I love combining digital with traditional cardmaking.

Poster Christmas Carols

Monica M posting today to share a card I made casing a card done by Cindy! I turned her fruity idea into a Christmas card using the poster carols set.

I used my mini misti to line up the sentiments and stamped them on white cardstock. Then I decided picked the mini icons to stamp under the words, since there is only one image each so I tried carefully to line them up. Once the images were done I used a brush stroke looking stamp to add the color on top of the black, alternating red and green.

Happy Birthday

Hello and happy almost end of February! I can’t believe it’s almost over already, but then I’m ready for spring. This card was made for a co-worker of mine. For about two weeks I she just kept saying ” OMG y’all, I’m going to be 24 on my birthday! I’m getting old…” (She’s the youngest in the office, so we gave her a hard time.) I used the sentiment “OMG you are so old” on the inside. Must be nice to just be turning 24… 😉

I stamped three of the images multiple times on the card and colored them with copics. Added my sentiment under the images and then used some stickles on the flames. This card is pretty quick and would be great to make a set to have on hand or to give as a gift.

One Layer, Watercolored Card

Hello… It’s Helen! Today I am sharing my first project with you, a2z Scrapbooking crafty friends! I have a simple tutorial how to create one layer card with a stamp and watercolor paint.

I used the Hero Arts Antique Rose. It is one of my favorite stamps from Hero Arts 🙂

First, stamp the image on a watercolor paper with Archival Ink. Make sure your archival ink is permanent and water-resistant.

I love coloring with any medium. This time, I used Distress Mini Inks to color the flowers and the background. I dabbed some of the ink on a craft mat and picked them up with watercolor brush. For better results, let the first layer dry before you add the darker color for shadowing. I used a heat gun to speed the drying.

I used 2 shades of pink for the petals so I added colors over and over to create the depth and shadows. Make sure your brush is not too wet when you work with Distress Inks. That is why a paper towel is great to have nearby 🙂

Once I was done with my flowers, I added the lightest blue all over the background. I let the first layer dry completely then I added more blue around the flowers for the shadowing. A small round brush works best for this because you work close to the border line of the image and since it is Distress Ink which easily activated by water, you do not want the colors of the flowers blend with the background color.

Final step is to add the sentiment. I used the Hero Art – Prayer stamp and die set. I die cut the prayer and added it on the card then I stamped the other sentiment on top and at the bottom of it with archival ink.

One Layer Thanks

Good morning everyone – it’s Jen from Caffeinated Papercuts here with my last post as a Design Team member. It has been a wonderful year filled with meeting wonderful people and I’ve enjoyed it greatly. My card today combines stenciling and one-layer stamping to say ‘thanks’.

I went with a rainbow of colors for my confetti stencil, then topped it off with a sentiment from the Thanks Stamp & Cut set. A black card base really makes the colors pop!

On the inside, I used another sentiment in the set and the little stars to jazz it up. I love how all-inclusive the stamp sets are, you really can make a card with just one set if you choose.

It’s Not a One Purpose Stamp

Arlene here with a sampling of three cards.

I know this is a “Winter” stamp, but I’ve never seen it as a totally WINTER stamp.  I’ve always seen the bits of snow drifting down as stars seen through the barren trees, either in the early dawn when you can see the sky lightening up on the horizon or late at night when the forest seems to turn dark and haunting.  I still can see the stars ahead of me guiding me out of the wilderness.  Yes, that does seem strange to say about a stamp, but I have always been intrigued by what colors to use with this stamp.  I believe last year, I used those wonderful neon Hero Arts inks and the skies are gorgeous with those inks, but I wanted to use the new Ombre inks by Hero Arts.   AND I had to use Stickles on every card.  They are my stars twinkling in the sky.

My first two cards are indeed, Fall cards for the Northern Hemisphere.  I loved the Light Ruby to Royal Red of the sky.  It puts me in the Autumn mood.

This second card shows a sky from butter to orange by using the Ombre ink Butter to Orange.  Of course that bit of blue was NOT supposed to be there, so I caution you to thoroughly clean your stamp or you too will experience totally unexpected outcomes.  However, I do like what happened and so I am showing you my OOPSS card too.

Finally, I’m going to show you the scene and sentiment in that gorgeous Ombre ink of Pool to Navy and yes, I did make this one a Holiday card to show you the versatility of this wonderful stamp.  It seems to make the world a gorgeous place.  And yes, I did still have some butter to orange ink at the top of the trees.  I didn’t take my own advice.

Clean and Simple Cacti

Hello Crafters!

This month’s challenge theme is Clean and Simple and since that’s kind of my deal I thought it would be shameful if I didn’t make a clean and simple for you guys 🙂

I did some stamping and masking to keep my card one layer with lots of white space. Your “white space” doesn’t have to be white I just prefer mine to be. I stamped the smallest cactus first knowing I wanted it to be in the front. With one layer cards you stamp back to front to create some depth. I also masked the pots to make sure I didn’t have overhang when I stamped the cacti. it probably wasn’t necessary but I didn’t want to have to start all over again.

After I stamped my potted Cacti I added some doodles of Southwestern designs I found on Google to give the pots some interest. I colored with my copics using a different combination of yellow-greens and green for each cactus. After the coloring was done I outlined my images with a copic multiliner and added little dots with a white gel pen to help the needles stand out. The sentiment is from the same set.
