Love you Valentine

Hello everyone, Monica M here and I hope everyone has enjoyed the holidays. I can’t believe Christmas is over already and the new year is almost here. With the new year fast approaching that means this is my last post with the A2Z team and Valentines Day will be here before we know it! So I better get some cards done and not wait until the last minute.

valentine

I used a heart image from an older set to stamp in three different colors across the front of my card panel, before die cutting the sentiment out. I then die cut the sentiment three times from red cardstock and die cut the three hearts. To make the sentiment match I ran the ink pad across some white cardstock and then die cut it ( seen below). I adhered my panel on a red cardbase. I glued the the three red and one gray sentiment pieces together before adding them to the card. I then adhered the hearts with pop dots, so they would have some added dimension as well.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t for get you have a few more days to link up for the challenge. Happy New Year!

snowflake Christmas card

Hello everyone!!! Is anyone else still working on the occasional Christmas card? I don’t have many more to do, but I’m still not done.

merry christmas snow

I started my card by using an old HA snowflake stencil to apply some silver glitter paste. I then stamped some smaller snowflakes around the larger ones in blue and silver ink.  On the panel I created a little scene with using some first, second and third generation stamping.  I added some blue snowflakes and the silver embossed sentiment, to finish the card.

One Layer Winter Trio

Hello Monica M here with 3 cards to share today. I got a little stamp happy in the craft room. I’m in the Christmas mood and still a lot of cards to finish so I can get them mailed out! I was hoping to have my cards almost done before now… I do this to myself almost every year. I’m a procrastinator and mom of 3 boys, one of which has his first job sooo… Any who… on to the cards.

I started by masking the area I wanted to stamp to create my own stamped panel. Once the background was complete, I stamped my image in a darker color so that the words wouldn’t be seen through the image.

a2zsnow4

I had to let the dark ink dry a little since I stamped the image multiple times to make sure it was opaque. Once the ink was dry I used VersaMark so that I could emboss the images using the White Satin Pearl powder.

I repeated the steps to create a trio of cards, changing the color and themes slightly. I loved how simple this was, and helped to get three cards done relatively quick. I think it took about an hour and that includes the time it took me to decide on which sentiments, images, and colors to use.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Holiday poster sayings

poster home

Monica M here with a Christmas card! I’ve got to keep the collection growing. 😉 I made my own background by stamping the poster sentiments repeatedly on the card base.  I used all the stamps from the Chritsmas carols set and borrowed the little deer from the silhouette set.

My house was colored using copics, before I fussy cut it and then layered it on two layers of vellum. I then adhered the house and vellum panel to the cardbase using foam adhesive. I finished the card by adding some stickles on the snow, lights and wreath. I mean whats a Christmas card with out a little sparkle, right?

Poster Christmas Carols

Monica M posting today to share a card I made casing a card done by Cindy! I turned her fruity idea into a Christmas card using the poster carols set.

Cindy’s card:

My card:

postercarols

I used my mini misti to line up the sentiments and stamped them on white cardstock. Then I decided picked the mini icons to stamp under the words, since there is only one image each so I tried carefully to line them up. Once the images were done I used a brush stroke looking stamp to add the color on top of the black, alternating red and green.

Be Merry and Bright

Hello all! Today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made with some of the new stamps from Hero Arts! It’s never too early to play with Christmas stamps, I mean it’s August already… well almost September! Christmas will be here before we know it and I don’t want to be working on a ton of cards last minute…. which to be honest is my usual! 😉

For my card I started by stamping the outline images and then masking them. Once they were covered I used distress inks to color my sky and stamped some trees to add more interest to the background. I really wanted the card to look as if there is only one deer on the front, so that it would be fun to see the others when the card is opened.

be merry and bright 2

I then colored my sleigh and reindeer using copics.  Added some shadows in the snowy area and then used a clear sparkle brush pen to add sparkle to the snow. Stamped my sentiment in white to show better on the darker area of the sky and added some gold Nuvo Drops for a little more dazzle.

What’s the word, Bird?

Hello all, my card today is for the birds! 😉 I’m feeling a little springy lately with the change in weather here in central IL. Tuesday we hit 60, 3 inches of snow Wednesday and 60 again Saturday. The warmer weather inspired me with my card.

whats-the-word

First I stamped the bird and then lined the branch up with his foot. I wanted more a few more branches and then added the flowers and leaves. Added the sentiment at the bottom over lapped with some of the flowers. Once I had everything stamped I trimmed done the panel and adhered it to the cardbase with some pattern papers layered under it. Finished it with some sequins and Nuvo.

what-the-word-colors

Below is a closer look at my color layered bird. I attempted to make him look like a Robin… using caramel and soft brown for the first layer, soft granite for the second and black for the last layer.

Flutter

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening… which ever it may be for you! I don’t know about you, but we’ve had abnormal weather in IL for January. The wind was so bad the other day I hard a real hard time trying to open the door when I left work! ( A little embarrassing, but no joke!)  Between the wind and the 50 degree weather I almost feel like springtime. Anywho…. my card feels very spring like so maybe the weather put me in the mood!

yellow-flutter

I stamped my butterflies on a panel and used the pearl embossing powder to the larger butterfly. (I’m going to be honest and tell you this was going to be a one layer card, but I kinda dropped my ink pad on it so had to re-think my design.) 😉 Once the butterflies were stamped I used my trimmer to cut a straight line up to the wings form the top and bottom. Then using my detail scissors to cut around the wings. I then used my sentiment stamp to do a tone on tone stamping on the yellow panel. I trimmed a little piece off of the butterfly panel to break up the card front a little bit. After the yellow panel was adhered to the cardbase, I added the little strip to the yellow panel and popped the bigger strip up on foam tape.

Here is a better look at the pearl embossed powder, it’s such a pretty powder!yellow-flutter-closeup

Merry Christmas

Good morning all, or afternoon/night depending on what time it is when you read this. Here is my first card for our November challenge.

embellishment

wishing-you-a-merry-christmas

I started by die cutting the sentiment and bow three times (two in white and one in a colored cardstock). I used some liquid adhesive to layer the pieces together to create a thicker die cut. I layered the sentiment on some pattern paper form stash. Added a banner above the die cut sentiment, before adhering the bow. To finish my card I added some diamond rhinstones that I colored with a Copic to make them red.
