Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Inlaid Die Cut

Howdy! I am here today with some shimmery butterflies. Oh wait that was last month. How about a birthday card for you!

Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Clear Stamp

When I thought about making this card the inlay technique and using some of the Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Ink came to mind. So here we are.

For the butterflies I put some drops of the purple and the blue Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Ink on a kraft sheet along with a tiny bit of gold. I spritzed the inks with water. I brushed the ink on paper and let it dry. Then I stamped the Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch on the metallic inks using just the detailed layer. I cut those out with the Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch matching die. Two butterflies were cut out of the white background paper so that I could inlay the purple and blue butterflies in those spaces. I just love the shimmery look of the metallic ink. The purple and blue come together in the pack.

For the flowers I mixed a little gold Glimmer Metallic ink with some Hero Arts Dandelion and Orange Liquid Watercolors. I painted that on paper and when it dried I stamped the flowers from the Color Layering Monarch stamp set. Then they were die cut.

The sentiment was die cut.

Hero Arts Die Cutting Kitchen Silhouettes

Hello! Today I have a fun little coffee card that I made using several Hero Arts sets. The main one is a digital image kit called Kitchen Silhouettes.

Hero Arts Kitchen Silhouettes Digital Kit

I saw those coffee related images in that set and had to make a card with them. How about that old school coffee pot?

The coffee pot and the cup – I took the coffee pot image and the cup image and used my Cameo Silhouette to size them and have just the outline so they could then be cut out with the Silhouette. I colored them with Copics. I stamped over the mug using the Hero Arts background stamp Lattice. On the coffee pot I used a white pen to make the dots. It is hard to see in the photo but I put clear glaze over the top of the pot to make it look like a glass top. For the steam I used a die from a Hero Arts monthly kit to cut that out of watercolor paper.

The coffee beans were printed from a Hero Arts digital kit Caffeine Fix. I resized them, colored with Copics and hand cut them out.

The sentiment is from the same Hero Arts monthly kit.

The background I made by dropping Hero Arts liquid watercolor on a fairly wet piece of watercolor paper. It kind of has that oops I spilled the coffee look.

Mandala Bold Prints in Gold

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to share my new Mandala Bold Prints stamped card. Here’s the stamp…it’s so intricate and delicate. I knew I’d have to play around with color.

aada

The first thing I did was drip the red and yellow Hero Arts liquid watercolors onto watercolor paper. After using some water to move the color around, I let it dry. Then I stamped this mandala and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. After that, I added Nuvo drops in different colors in certain spots.

Lastly, I added a dragonfly die cut in black. It reminded me of stained glass windows and I wanted the color to show through, so I didn’t add anything to the wings. Vellum might have worked okay, but I liked it fine like this.

I fussy cut around the circle and another piece of cardstock to make the card…and it seems a little larger than a standard card, so I’ll have to find a square envelope for it if I’m mailing it. This would be fabulous as a gift bag decoration, because it’s large and so pretty.

I have a bunch of these stamped and embossed in different colors so I can experiment with different media. You might see it show up again in another project!

Happy Saturday!

Mermaids with Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to share not one, not two, but three mermaid cards made with the new Mermaid Stamp & Cut. It’s a smaller set of stamps that comes with two dies for $14.99 and is just so much fun to color.

The first thing I did was to break out the new liquid watercolors from Hero Arts. I have the Deep Ocean, Strawberry and Dandelion colors. I saw this video from Jennifer McGuire and decided to give her technique a go. I used both watercolor paper and Bristol smooth paper.

I watercolored a base blue on the Bristol paper and then dotted the yellow and blue paints directly onto the dried paper. I sprayed with water from above until it moved around just a little and let it air dry. That background became this card below. I used a new branch die and the Mermaid Ombre sequins to make a kind of coral reef thing for her to rest on. I used Prismacolor pencils to color all the mermaids.

For this next card, I used watercolor paper and wet the whole paper a ton and then used the blue and yellow droppers to drop color in puddles onto the paper.  I tipped the paper and let the colors run together. After it dried, I spritzed with water and then soaked up the color. I added some Mermaid Ombre sequins and clear Nuvo drops as bubbles.

For my last card, I used smooth Bristol paper and sprayed it with water until it was saturatedand then dropped color onto it, still using the blue and yellow. I did move the paper a little to get some variation in color (where the pigment runs a bit) but not too much. I added Diamond Stickles as bubbles on this one and added a strip of washi tape at the top.

I still have tons of papers left to use as backgrounds or for die cutting and still have plenty of watercolor left in the bottles for using as regular watercolors if I choose.

Hop on over to the store if you’d like to try the new watercolors or this cute Mermaid Stamp and Cut set. If anything is sold out, just hit the Custom Order button and order any of the new Hero Arts products at no additional cost!

Happy Wednesday!
