Take2 on Remembrance Sunday card with Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy stamp

Hello November! Yes, this time it really IS November and Remembrance Sunday is nearly  upon us so I’ve got another card with the Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy. Slightly different take on this one though, a bit more dramatic and… somber maybe?

As I mentioned in my last Remembrance Sunday post, which you can find right here, I stamped up loads of poppies using this stamp set, my beloved MISTI and the Hero Arts Poppy Layering Ink Cubes. Some of them I kept very realistic looking and those are on the other card. These ones I wanted more dramatic and different. Instead of using the lightest colour, I started with the second lightest one and used black for the final layer. I also used some Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder to really highlight the stamens on the flowers.

To cut out the flowers I used the Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy Frame Cuts and then set them aside while I started on the background. I got some light grey card stock out, this one is my current favourite, it’s from Simon Says Stamp and is called Fog. Cutting the sheet in half and scoring it in the middle makes a perfect A2 card base.

Getting my MISTI out again I placed the card base in it and stamped up some stems and buds using the black ink from the cube collection. Even with small images I like using my MISTI to make sure I get a nice solid image. These inks are nice and juice so it probably is going slightly over-the-top but oh well. I also added a sentiment at the top the card, the one that says ‘Wishing you the most beautiful day’. The flowers got adhered with some foam tape and then as a final flourish some matte, gun metal grey sequins with Glossy Accent. Simple, somber but elegant. If I may say so myself.

Thinking of you Poppy with Hero Arts

Welcome.  Dawn here to share my shaped card for this month’s challenge.  I have used my favourite Poppy stamp and die for this card.

My card base is made with by die cutting two Spellbinders dies and glued them together at the top.   I trimmed a smidgen off the bottom curve on the back to allow the card to stand up.    I used some Patterned paper for my inner panel.   On a separate piece of card stock I stamped the poppy in Hero Arts inks – Soft Cantaloupe and Punch Chalk (discontinued) and Distress Ink – Aged Mahogany.  The stem is in Emerald  Green.   I used the matching dies to cut out the Poppy.

I did have a little mishap when stamping the sentiment…. as I went to pull the sentiment off the backing sheet (it was the first time I used this sentiment) and I tore it!

With much butting and wiggling, to say the least, I managed to get the sentiment stamped.

Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy

Hi friends – happy, happy HUMP day – said in my best camel impersonation voice! Hope you are having a great week!

Sentiment Focus

This month we are focusing on sentiments but I couldn’t help but break out these GORGEOUS color layering poppies for a clean and simple card! I stamped the flowers with 3 colors of distress inks (listed below), then added some shading with Prismacolor pencils. I stamped the sentiment from You’re So Lovely in Hero Arts Intense Black ink, splattered on some watered down paint, added some washi tape and called it good!

Hero Arts Poppies Sympathy card

Hi all.   I’m here to share another beautiful Poppies card with you.   Today I pulled out some Hero Arts Ink cubes to make a sympathy card.  I choose colours that would give a soft ethereal look

The use of the Soft Granite for the third layer added to the ethereal look.   The colours I used are listed in my supplies list below.   I have them all in cubes from different sets.  I added a thin line of gold pen around the outside of my panel and some splatters of watered down Gold Glitz ink.   The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts set (CL476 – Retired)

I also decorated an envelope to match
