Love you Valentine

Hello everyone, Monica M here and I hope everyone has enjoyed the holidays. I can’t believe Christmas is over already and the new year is almost here. With the new year fast approaching that means this is my last post with the A2Z team and Valentines Day will be here before we know it! So I better get some cards done and not wait until the last minute.

valentine

I used a heart image from an older set to stamp in three different colors across the front of my card panel, before die cutting the sentiment out. I then die cut the sentiment three times from red cardstock and die cut the three hearts. To make the sentiment match I ran the ink pad across some white cardstock and then die cut it ( seen below). I adhered my panel on a red cardbase. I glued the the three red and one gray sentiment pieces together before adding them to the card. I then adhered the hearts with pop dots, so they would have some added dimension as well.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t for get you have a few more days to link up for the challenge. Happy New Year!

snowflake Christmas card

Hello everyone!!! Is anyone else still working on the occasional Christmas card? I don’t have many more to do, but I’m still not done.

merry christmas snow

I started my card by using an old HA snowflake stencil to apply some silver glitter paste. I then stamped some smaller snowflakes around the larger ones in blue and silver ink.  On the panel I created a little scene with using some first, second and third generation stamping.  I added some blue snowflakes and the silver embossed sentiment, to finish the card.

One Layer Winter Trio

Hello Monica M here with 3 cards to share today. I got a little stamp happy in the craft room. I’m in the Christmas mood and still a lot of cards to finish so I can get them mailed out! I was hoping to have my cards almost done before now… I do this to myself almost every year. I’m a procrastinator and mom of 3 boys, one of which has his first job sooo… Any who… on to the cards.

I started by masking the area I wanted to stamp to create my own stamped panel. Once the background was complete, I stamped my image in a darker color so that the words wouldn’t be seen through the image.

a2zsnow4

I had to let the dark ink dry a little since I stamped the image multiple times to make sure it was opaque. Once the ink was dry I used VersaMark so that I could emboss the images using the White Satin Pearl powder.

a2zsnow3

I repeated the steps to create a trio of cards, changing the color and themes slightly. I loved how simple this was, and helped to get three cards done relatively quick. I think it took about an hour and that includes the time it took me to decide on which sentiments, images, and colors to use.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hero Arts CM165 Color Layering Sea Turtle

Hi! It’s Sue. Surprise – not a Christmas card this time! I’m dreaming of my planned trip to Hawaii. Hence, my card for today.

This sea turtle stamp reminds me of the beautiful waters off Hawaii and all the sea critters in those waters. For this card, I started with the background panel. I used distress inks (salty ocean, peacock feathers) added with a water brush onto 96 lb bristol. I added the colours to try to mimic the oceans around Hawaii. I also inked up the turtle using my MISTI and distress inks (twisted citron, mowed lawn, forest moss). I spritzed each inked stamp with water for a watercolour effect. I fussy cut the turtle. I inked up the seaweed with Hero Arts field greens and stamped with both first and second generation stamping. I used a sentiment from a different stamp set.

Poster Christmas Carols

Monica M posting today to share a card I made casing a card done by Cindy! I turned her fruity idea into a Christmas card using the poster carols set.

Cindy’s card:

a2z_20170522_TY_Berry_Much

My card:

postercarols

I used my mini misti to line up the sentiments and stamped them on white cardstock. Then I decided picked the mini icons to stamp under the words, since there is only one image each so I tried carefully to line them up. Once the images were done I used a brush stroke looking stamp to add the color on top of the black, alternating red and green.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!monicaa2zscrapbooking

Be Merry and Bright

Hello all! Today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made with some of the new stamps from Hero Arts! It’s never too early to play with Christmas stamps, I mean it’s August already… well almost September! Christmas will be here before we know it and I don’t want to be working on a ton of cards last minute…. which to be honest is my usual! 😉

For my card I started by stamping the outline images and then masking them. Once they were covered I used distress inks to color my sky and stamped some trees to add more interest to the background. I really wanted the card to look as if there is only one deer on the front, so that it would be fun to see the others when the card is opened.

be merry and bright 2

I then colored my sleigh and reindeer using copics.  Added some shadows in the snowy area and then used a clear sparkle brush pen to add sparkle to the snow. Stamped my sentiment in white to show better on the darker area of the sky and added some gold Nuvo Drops for a little more dazzle.

Hero Arts Asian Flower Stencil Faux Bleaching Thank You Card

It’s my turn to post my card here at a2z Scrapbooking.

I started by using my ink blending tool and distress inks (wilted violet, barn door, abandoned coral, picked raspberry, carved pumpkin) randomly on a 96 lb bristol card panel. It’s important to either use watercolour paper or heavyweight bristol. I chose bright colours to go with the current challenge here at a2z Scrapbooking – “Bright and Beautiful”.  I pulled out my Hero Arts Asian Flower stencil, spritzed it well, with water. I placed the stencil, water-side down onto the inked panel. I let the stencil sit for a bit to permit the distress inks under the stencil to get “bleached”. I carefully lifted the stencil and with some paper towel, mopped up any puddles of water. I trimmed the panel down and added an orange panel, stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Color Layering Fuchsia. To complete the card, I added a thin purple strip of cardstock.

Hello!

Hi Everyone, it’s Monica from Taylormadecards4u. I am here to share with you a card I made using this month’s challenge theme “Bright & Beautiful.”

You Brighten My day

I decided to create a mixed media card, as those typically are my favorite types to make. I started out with a piece of white card stock and created a background using does distress oxides.  Once I was happy with the design, I cut down using the crazy stitch die. I added some background interest with a small words set.

I then added some embossing paste using a Tim Holtz stencil and outlined it with a distress crayon.  To add more interest, I stamped the background using a stamp from Finnabair to add some small words on the barckground.

Next I added some washi tape and a stamped sentiment that reads “hello…you brighten my day” and finished it off with some black Nuvo drops.

Hero Arts CM130 Color Layering Hydrangea Shape Card

Hi! It’s Sue. Can’t believe that it’s almost the end of June. It’s crazy how fast time flies. I have a shape card here for you.  Here’s my card

I love the Hero Arts Color Layering stamp sets. It makes creating beautiful images so easy – Hero Arts has done the “hard work”. I just need to align the various stamps. With my MISTI, it’s pretty easy. There is enough variability on the bloom “background”, that orienting the upper layers requires a bit of rotation, but it becomes pretty obvious where to stamp the upper layers. I fussy cut the bloom. I repeated the process for the three leaves.

To “fit in” with this month’s challenge here at a2z Scrapbooking, I made a circle card. I cut the card with a 3.75″ circle die. I adhered the flower, overlapping the edge of the circle and attached a purple banner, with the sentiment from the same stamp set. The card will still fit into a regular A2 envelope.
