Hi everyone,
I am so excited to be using a stamp of one of my favorite flowers, the Peonies on my card today. The Hero Florals Peonies stamp is a new addition to my stash and I have experiment with using different papers and techniques.
First up I used rice paper (also know as mulberry paper or Xuan paper) and did a faux Chinese painting. Some of the characteristics of Chinese Paintings may include “watercolor without lines”, one brush stroke for a single petal, writing (a poem, or title, and/or date) and a seal (artist’s name). Now I must disclaim here that I am no expert in Chinese painting, just some observations from looking at them. 🙂
I stamped the floral and leaves images using Hero Arts Shadow Ink Soft Granite, and watercolor the images. My Chinese writing skill using a brush is not good enough so I just used a black marker to write Happy Birthday (top right corner), and the date (lower portion), and added my seal. Then my rice paper panel is adhere to a dark gray card base.
Next up I used the same kind of paper and I gold heat embossed the images before watercoloring it.
This last project I made a place card, for a birthday party of course!! 🙂 I used Strathmore 140 lb watercolor paper, stamped in Archival Ink and watercolored both flower and leaves. Then I die cut using the matching Frame Cut. I adhere it to a cup shape place card holder die cut using Hero Arts Nesting Teacups Infinity Dies. I die cut an extra plain leave to write the name.
Here’s the back view, you could see how easy it is to have it done.

I’m glad I don’t have to choose a favorite out of these because I keep changing my mind. They are all striking in their own way. You’ve got some talent going on, girl.

Wow Cindy those are some nice cards and the place card! That was interesting to read about the Chinese style of painting. You are creative creating a card with a Chinese style and that writing is very cool. The place card is creative and so pretty. The embossing is very nice too. I might have some mulberry paper around to try that out.
